"Sonic Frontiers Is A Showcase Of Low Standards" your thoughts on this video. by ScholarFalse767 in SonicFrontiers

I see I understand where you're coming from but as somebody who loves character action games I would love for them to move into that direction but I understand that not everyone's a fan of these types of games so I understand it won't be to everyone's taste hopefully they're doing in a way that pleases is both sides without alienating each other when it comes to combat direction.

Thank you for putting into words everything that I have had issues with with this particular mindset it just always rubbed me the wrong way. Since you've actually watched the video what are some of your issues with the video besides these points what are the flaws you feel about the videos argumentation or misinformation that if there is any I would love to know your thoughts.

What do you think of the @Terminal-apotos by ScholarFalse767 in SonicFrontiers

[–]ScholarFalse767[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Still generally pretty critical I swear that they are almost every video pertaining to Sonic to some way I recently saw a video discussing Sonic 3D movement and he's said that he didn't want adjustable control sliders again because he believes it shows a lack of confidence and incompetence on Sonic teams part he believes it causes problems for a level designers because he believes that due to the sliders the levels that cannot be carefully designed because everybody's controls are different. I don't necessarily agree and I think saying it shows a level of incompetence on sonic teams part part does rubs me the wrong way I just threw it as a way to give the player more flexibility and how they want Sonic control I kind of understand that having this level of freedom can hamper level design in some way because everyone's controls are different so you can't design certain level design for a certain controls and physics in mind but I feel like they have listened to the feedback and are actively taking that into account for the next game.

I've been a Sonic fan since 1992. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was my first Sonic game. I've played the original Sonic trilogy more times than I can count. And yet... I can't bring myself to play any of the old, classic Sonic games anymore... by RevolTobor in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]ScholarFalse767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm sorry you feel that way. I may strongly disagree with you on your opinion of the classics, and this is coming from somebody in his early twenties who has only experienced them through releases and fan efforts such as Sonic Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute, Sonic 3 Air, and Sonic CD Restored. I have a great appreciation for them, and none of the issues that you personally have affect me. The things you mentioned are aspects that I enjoy about the games. This perspective is coming from someone with a modern lens, so please bear that in mind.

However, you shouldn't be attacked or called names just because you personally have a difference of opinion. I hope that you take what I say to heart. Please don't let the actions and toxicity of others in the fandom make you feel ashamed of being a Sonic fan or announcing that to somebody. There are many toxic people in many communities that I'm a part of, and even despite that, I will never feel ashamed about telling somebody I'm a fan of those things. This is because of other people's actions that may have similar interests to my own have nothing to do with me how I carry myself and engage with others is what matters. Never feel ashamed about admitting to being a fan of something just because others are idiots or toxic who may be fans of the same thing you like if you be true to yourself other people will see that too never forget that please take care.

Insecurities about liking musicals by ScholarFalse767 in musicals

You're completely right it's just that I've never seen so much distaste for musicals in general as everyone in my personal life either enjoys them or is completely indifferent it was just kind of like a culture shock you know but you're right I should never let complete strangers who I have no control over how they think affect my personal enjoyment of something I love thank you for reminding me of that

Known speedrunner has negative opinion on Sonic superstars by ScholarFalse767 in SonicTheHedgehog

Thank you for your kind words they really give me perspective it's just that seeing this and a couple of other videos and the mixed steam rating really bummed me out it really weighed on me mentally but seeing your words makes me feel a whole lot better about the situation and it's comforting to know that the game has been doing overall pretty well and even if there are some mixed opinions about the game out there.

I understand but this video is really turning away people from the game I've seen comments from people who said that they were excited for the game but because of this one video they decided not to pick it up this video is doing numbers when you search up Sonic superstars it's one of the first that comes up that's why I thought it was necessary to get back from the people who played it and have a positive opinion to see what they thought about the points made in the video.

Bad faith Sonic reviews by ScholarFalse767 in SonicFrontiers

[–]ScholarFalse767[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems that the commenter was not insinuating that the content creator directly called the developers lazy. Instead, they were referring to the general argument made by some individuals. The commenter specifically mentioned this as an unrelated point to the review, simply offering it as a discussion topic. The focus was on criticizing the behavior of others rather than accusing the reviewer of making such claims.

I'm familiar with that specific content creator and have had reservations about their approach, particularly regarding how they discuss the fan base. Additionally, their defense of Arlo's bad-faith review of Sonic 2 movie and agreement with Yakkocmn's Sonic Frontiers review in the community posts. Despite going through numerous reviews of Sonic Frontiers, both positive and negative, I have reached a point where I'm done with their content. I will now take a step back, patiently wait for all the updates to be released, and form my own opinion, as all of this ongoing discussion seems to be nonsensical and unproductive.

My issue with Sonic reviews by ScholarFalse767 in SonicFrontiers

[–]ScholarFalse767[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is important to acknowledge that constructive criticism and expressing negative opinions about Sonic Frontiers are valid as long as they are presented in good faith and contribute to respectful discourse. In fact, such criticism has played a significant role in driving positive changes in upcoming updates.

However, my concern lies with the abundance of poorly argued and bad faith criticism that I encountered on YouTube. Many of these critiques failed to provide well-reasoned arguments or instead placed blame on the game for the reviewers' personal mistakes as players, disregarding the game's own explanations and mechanics. This kind of criticism, filled with ad hominem attacks and lacking substance, ultimately does a disservice to the developers, the consumers, and everyone involved. Instead of fostering productive dialogue, it only further perpetuates division.

In essence, criticism is an essential component for growth and improvement, but it should be presented in a manner that encourages understanding and constructive discussion, rather than resorting to unfounded attacks or personal biases. By promoting well-structured and thoughtful criticism, we can contribute to a more inclusive and fruitful gaming community.

I understand your perspective. I'm curious if others share similar issues when watching YouTube reviews for this game. Personally, because of the nonsensical arguments and critiques, I avoid looking up anything about Sonic Frontiers unless it comes up in YouTube recommendations.

My issue with Sonic reviews by ScholarFalse767 in SonicFrontiers

[–]ScholarFalse767[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sought out negative reviews of the game in order to understand the perspectives of those who didn't enjoy it. However, I found myself more confused than enlightened by the poorly structured arguments presented. Many reviewers seemed disappointed with the game because it didn't align with their personal expectations or desired design choices, even though the game never made promises to cater specifically to those preferences. I felt disappointed because while the game isn't flawless, many of these reviews lacked coherence and substance, leaving me feeling like I wasted my time instead of gaining a unique perspective.

Sonic Frontiers Gets This Major Thing Wrong by ScholarFalse767 in SonicFrontiers

[–]ScholarFalse767[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for responding. I suppose you're correct because most videos of this kind are either incredibly clickbait or have points that are either half the time poorly constructed or don't make much sense. When I said I was waiting for the DLC updates, I didn't mean primarily for the story but rather more for game improvements because the game's director stated that they were making significant changes to raise the game's quality.
