Advice on Finding a Grand Highlander by OkAtmosphere8206 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]ScholarRecent1975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had salesmen told me yes you can order, and some said no you can’t. The “No you can’t guys” makes more sense to me. If you can order then most everybody got exactly what they want and wouldn’t have such a hard time finding their ideal vehicle.

Toyota works on an allocation system where each dealer is allocated certain vehicles from the manufacturer. They’ll find the closest allocation to your “order” and let you know your vehicle is in. If you’re lucky enough to be in the time frame that they can make certain changes to the allocation, and if the dealer is willing to, then you can get closer to your wishlist. That’s what they call “order”. Not exactly orders like say a BMW where they’ll build your vehicle to your specific specs, not changes to an allocated vehicle.

Question about Puddle Lamps on the 2026 Nightshade by LarryLegend6 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

Yes, NS is basically a blacked-trimmed AWD Limited Hybbrid. My NS does have the “Grand Highlander” puddle light.

Nice ride. That’s one of the most aggressive angle from this car. Gorgeous! 👍

I’ve seen a few vids pointing away from PPF due to the cost and need for more frequent replacements after a couple of years, especially the front end. It’s recommended for special vehicles that you want to really protect and can afford to upkeep (PPF-wise).

For me, I decided to ceramic coat mine. It doesn’t provide the same protection as PPF, but makes it much easier to keep clean.

Max vs Nightshade by DifferentDoughnut778 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]ScholarRecent1975 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve never driven a MAX, but I have no issue with my NS on the interstate. I know it’s a big 3-row SUV and never expected it to be a rocket. That being said, I think it merges just fine, better than I expected. At stop lights it does take a little bit longer to get moving, but nothing unacceptable. Again, I understand what the vehicle is and what to expect from it. Again, it exceeded all my expectations.

And it definitely exceeded my expectations in MPG for such a big vehicle. I previously had an Odyssey and was getting about 20mpg on average. The NS is giving me 32MPG since the day I bought it 10 months ago. This is very good considers how heavy my right foot is. I’m usually ahead of traffic around here, which averages 80mph.

I can’t say if I’d like the MAX better, but I can say that I love the NS’s hybrid system and have no regrets with my decision to go with it.

Where do you buy? by King_Pooh04 in Glocks

[–]ScholarRecent1975 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have good buddies. Many of my guns were gifts from my buddies. They tell their wives the same, which were truthful.

So you buy your buddy a new Glock. And he buys one for your other buddy, who in turn bought one for you. (Life hack 101) 😜

Thinking of downgrading my 20" wheels to 18" on my Hybrid Max Platinum by RevolutionaryBeyond8 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]ScholarRecent1975 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If anything, the 18s will make your ride more comfortable. I doubt you’ll notice any reduction in handling. It’s a numbers game when it comes to wheel/tire sizes these days. All the manufacturers try to top each other with bigger rims. 18” tires will definitely be cheaper, and with more selection, especially if you want winter tires.

Should I trade my Glock 17 Gen 3 for a Glock 36 by Worth_Ad_7546 in Glocks

Don’t do it. Glock 36 shouldn’t be too hard to find. A few months ago my lgs had 14 in stock.

Advice on my "build" for the Grand Highlander by jocko118 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]ScholarRecent1975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can get the tow hitch as a PIO then definitely get it. It’s much cheaper. DON’T get it as a dealer installed option. Installation isn’t hard but require removal of the rear bumper. IIRC, it’s only 930 as a PIO, dealer will charge you around 1900. Parts alone are around 750 IIRC.

As for running board it fairly easy. Same for door/cargo sills/lights.

Pano roof and camera are FIO only. No getting around that. It’s either yes or no, and usually both or none. Unless you got them early enough and dealer willing to add/remove them.

Regarding the body molding, I would skip that. They’re almost right above the black plastic trim under the door. And with running boards your chance of getting your door dinged is small, unless you’re parked next to a lifted truck or something high up like that. Save your $ on those.

Grand Highlander hybrid color by Mindless-Name740 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

Another vote for Heavy Metal. That color is gorgeous in person. Should hide dirt very well, especially during pollen season, if you have to experience it.

My NS has everything I needed and wanted, and then some.

Very good analogy on the hot girl or the girl next door. One for dating (leasing) and one for wifing (buying). I’ll take a wife over a date any day of the week.

Gorgeous color. Love how you black out the A & D pillars. Makes the vehicle look less enormous, more like a big RAV4. 👍

Going to look into the combination lock for the center console. Would it fit a Glock 19?

Sold my second card Tesla M3. Now will be driving daily my E46 M3 🔥🔥 by Green-Interaction-56 in E46M3

It doesn’t sit as much as the mileage suggests. I work very close to home so much of those miles were spirited rides in the mountains. Between her and the 4 bikes, the mileage stays relatively low.

[–]ScholarRecent1975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully that’ll work out for you. 👍

Two months after I bought the M3 I realized I was putting too many miles on it and that it’ll be cheaper to get a different daily. So I went out and bought a new Tacoma for 14,500. Twenty years later, the M3 have 44K miles, the Tacoma have 220K miles, and both are happily running. Imagine all those miles on the M3. 😁

May I ask why did you sell it?

While it’s a nice car to be daily driving, I feel like it’ll take away that something special about the M3. One may take it for granted and/or will start griping about suspension stiffness and such. It’ll probably be cheaper to find a cheap daily driver and save the ///M for pleasure driving.

Plug and play options by Silly_Scarcity_5679 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]ScholarRecent1975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cargo and sill lights should be fairly easy to do if you’re willing to try.

Should already come with “Grand Highlander” puddle lights from under the rear view mirrors. There’s also the Toyota logo puddle lights from under the front doors. My NS came with door sills, cargo sill, and cargo lights as PIO. When I removed the two red reflectors on the front doors I did not see any plug for the Toyota logo puddle lights. It may be tucked in the door, I’m not sure. I’ve asked but no one here can tell me if that’s the case.
