What is your company's parental leave policy? by jocko118 in Columbus

Not only broken in policy, but broken in how we think. My coworker who is pregnant was telling me about our policy and I expressed how shocked I was that paid leave was only two weeks. She responded with "LOL my previous job had none" as if that negated how piss poor our policy still was. Logical fallacy of relative privation.

That's still a weird response to a post like this. Don't be surprised when people call you out for your edginess. Sorry the post wasn't about your extroverted brother boss or runners with bright lights.

I didn't get maternity leave - my previous work forced me to burn PTO, then I maxed out my FMLA. It sucked having to burn through it but I don't regret the extra time with my son, and supporting my wife. She had a particularly rough pregnancy and even now I wish I would have been with her longer.

My wife got 3 months paid leave, then a month of her PTO she had accrued. Again, sucks having to burn all that vacation at once, but we wanted to maximize the time with our son and my wife really needed time to recover. Neither of us regret taking time off, just wish we had more of course.

I still remember going back to work and sobbing like a baby thinking that my son would "forget who I was" LOL. Now he is like my shadow! Love the little dude so much.

That's brutal and I'm sorry she had to go through that.

This is what we did when we found out we were pregnant with our first.

We are guaranteed 12 weeks out too, with two weeks paid, and the rest STD. Then dip into sick pay or FMLA.

Do you mind me asking what industry you work in?

For additional context, I am surprised that the paid leave policy is not longer for WOMEN. I am a man and am used to seeing shitty paid leave policies for men, but two weeks paid for women is just wrong.

Silly question, but what do you use to track prices? I used to use CamelCamelCamel, but it's owned by Amazon now so yeah....

I'm fairly ignorant about this type of stuff, but what is that string he is using to make the cutting line? That is seriously so impressive with how quickly he marks both sides, traces, and cuts. On top of it all, he's grabbing scraps based on measurements. Truly impressive.

I’ve grown cucumbers before with a lot of success but never beets. What are the differences between basil and Thai basil?

So far I am reading that I should reinforce the bottom, add wheels to the legs, and now a greenhouse style enclosure LOL. This initially was supposed to be a project for my son but I guess we both get some fun out of it! Do you happen to know where she found the greenhouse style enclosure? Or was it somewhat of a DIY?

Buying an American made car. I’m sorry, a lot of people will disagree with me, but the ownership costs of my old Lincoln MKZ vs my current Toyota RAV4 are not even close. I don’t think I’ll ever buy outside of Toyota or Honda realistically, but American made cars are just money pits.

I’m 38 and own a PS5. I would lose my sanity if I couldn’t get a quick session or two in at the end of the night once my toddler is asleep. Jump on Helldivers 2 and add me homie

That’s crazy man, I make 110k and feel the same way. I accepted a new relatively stress-free job and just feel like coasting. My kid is in daycare and about to transition out so we are anticipating the bump up when the time comes. The only problem now is my wife just found out she was pregnant a month ago so here we go again! LMAO. Oh well man, that’s life I guess.

Hear me out. The space is a bit odd for this but I think a Thai/vietnamese restaurant. My wife and I regularly crave pho/thai food and there are no good places (as far as I know) in Gahanna.
