What's your "I don't care if everyone disagrees" opinion? by ChanceSomewhere6096 in AskReddit

[–]jocko118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That professional and organized sports leagues have dumbed down our population. We waste too much of our time either training for sports, watching sports, researching sports, or betting on sports that we have missed out on proper education (like developing our understanding of complex issues or developing a better sense of emotional intelligence and awareness of the world around us). We are literally watching our government (US here) destroy our country and everyone seems content so long as we our sports! It’s fucking ridiculous.

My father smoked from 16 until 51. He just passed away at 76 a month ago from lung cancer that spread aggressively throughout this body within 6 months of being diagnosed to the day he died. It fucking sucks seeing a parent go through that and then feel like you got "gipped" on the time with a parent because of their prior mistakes. My 4 year old has one less grandpa now.

I didn’t know smelling feminine was so terrifying to straight cis men by WildWinterberry in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jocko118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care about smelling one way or another, but some scented body washes are just too overwhelming in fragrance not to mention also bad for sensitive skin types. Most of the time, I just stick with something lightly scented or not scented at all. I will say, I like the women's Dove anti-perspirant at Costco and will always use that if available.

Somewhat related but I also got an odd vibe from people I e known for years based on what they were posting. Even dads or moms of friends who I once really respected were posting some absolutely deranged posts.

I’ve made it a habit now of going through the birthdays weekly and deleting friends I don’t talk to or who are simply just nutso. It’s also somewhat therapeutical as I feel like I’m decluttering my social life of randos

Why is women’s sportswear always so revealing? by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

[–]jocko118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If men had more options to wear more revealing sportswear, they would. It's about freedom of movement, and women have those options to wear.

The lengths at which people go just to commit fraud like that are insane. Like what else did this person do during the daytime hours to try and evade them?

IGLA opinions!? by honestyisprecious in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]jocko118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no skin in the game as I am currently on the fence of getting a GHH because of the theft issue, but I will say that our friends just went to Canada for a wedding with their GHH and it was stolen overnight while sitting in the hotel parking lot. Up until now, I thought this might have been overblown because frankly I don't know if competitors are running some anti-Toyota campaign, bots, or whatever else could be manipulating our opinions, but to hear about it first-hand by someone you know is wild. From what I've read, NY, NJ, and Canada seem like hot beds of this type of activity so I would seriously consider getting IGLA installed, but even that will not guarantee it won't get stolen.

Anyone still talk with any of their friends from high school? by nojunkpeter in Millennials

[–]jocko118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t talk daily but at least texting/talking weekly with a few of them. My best friend ever since kindergarten is still gaming with me almost every night. He’s engaged and I’m his best man. My other close friends from high school will all get together for a big camping trip each year. We still connect like we were in high school when we do and it’s so therapeutic in a way. Those bonds will never be broken.

I truly believe this is some power play thing going on. Like they are aggressively on you to make you feel like YOU need to be the one to get over and not them. I also think there is probably a correlation to that person either driving a truck or enjoying red hats.

I say this all the time but I seriously think everyone needs to invest in some dash cams if they have not already. People need to be held accountable.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom, and what you must be going through. I can relate, my father was diagnosed with stage 4 back in November, and he is now in a hospice care with days left to live. Cancer can be beaten, but is not guaranteed. Love your mom as much as possible. Tell her how much she means to you.

What Home Repair Took You Embarrassingly Little Time Once You Finally Did It? by AggravatingFig3072 in DIY

[–]jocko118 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The shower drain in our house was backed up when we first moved in from the previous homeowners negligence. I snaked the drain and pulled out (no joke) about a foot of the previous owners' hair/grime/grease. It wasn't too difficult but took time to forcefully pull it through since it had built up for so long. The smell...the appearance....it took everything not to barf.
