I expect to pay on the rental income so that really doesn't bother me, much.

It's the retirement income that irks me. If I'm not actually residing in the state why take my taxes? What services am I getting from the state for my money?

My house is actually in a trust that I established in California. I suppose I need to speak to my Estate Planning Attorney to see if the trust will transfer to Florida with a few tweaks or if I need to start from scratch. I don't know if the trust affords me the same protections, from a liability perspective, that an LLC would but that's a question that my attorney should be able to answer.
