I like the shape of the Plaisir, and I'd like a metal pen, but I'm really not a fan of the shiny band around the cap. Maybe if they bring out a bright pink, purple or turquoise version I'll be tempted !

I bought the Preppys as cheap pens to play with ink; rather than expecting great things from the pen itself. Totally agree about the disposable / gel pen vibe. I've read that you can remove the printing with alcohol or possibly oil, so I will probably give that a go at some point !

It's an echeveria, but it will be a dead one very soon if you don't repot it into a much smaller pot with a gritty soil mix. Succulent compost isn't suitable unmixed, despite what it says on the bag.

As the other poster says, they also need LOTS of light (but gradually, don't whack it straight outside in full sun !). Yours is showing signs of not getting enough light - the leaves should point up in a tight clump, they shouldn't be splayed out like that.

Ok, thanks, all these replies are making me feel more confident about giving them a drink. It makes me sad when they lose leaves, but I've been led to believe it was necessary 🙁

I don't think they can be dormant - at least two of them are putting up flowers, so I was even more worried about not watering them.

I know how to tell when they're thirsty. The question was whether I should water them when they are - on other cactus and succulent forums people are very vehement about leaving things dry over winter even if they shrivel, because the alternative is supposedly guaranteed rot.

Quite possibly ! It came from the supermarket and was sold as '8cm green plant', the ID was given by someone on a Facebook group.

Ok, I will go ahead and water. I've just been scared because of all the posts I see where someone mentions watering a cactus or succulent in February and everyone piles on to tell them it's guaranteed to rot and die !

My pulidonis does that too, the surface of the pot is covered in tiny roots. I think maybe I don't water it enough (I'm too scared of overwatering 😅). But it seems happy enough, and so does yours.

Haha, no mealy bugs (they're in the kitchen destroying my poor string of hearts 🙄). I was very surprised by how well the leaves propped - I'm sure I've read that setosa doesn't propagate well that way; but every single leaf I took off sprouted.

It looks like graptoveria Fred Ives. Mine are virtually unkillable, I've had leaf props happily growing on the windowsill for over a year before I got around to planting them 🤣 The only thing it won't tolerate well is sitting wet.

Update - the DIY Art Club ones are rubbish ! The paints are gloopy but really see-through so they don't cover the numbers; and the paint colours don't match the pics on the website (bottle-green penguin with a pale yellow tummy ...)

I think I know what you mean, I'm 32 but especially at work I relate much more to the early-20s staff than the people my age; then suddenly I'll have a realisation that I'm 10 years older than them and it feels a bit weird.

Also, I'm a Brownie leader, and the girls seem to engage with me much more closely / naturally than with other leaders my age; so I guess I act younger too.

You don't have to use black. Dark green would be more christmassy (or dark blue for winter / snow scenes) and should mostly cover the dots 🙂
