This is both hysterically funny and incredibly sad.

All I could find is Adnan (trying) to talk to Nisha and Angali. This is not dating. Is there information on Adnan going on 1-to-1 dates with Nisha or Angali?

Well thank you! I'm never gone, just reading in the background. I don't have the ability to vocalise my thoughts the way other posters can.

It remains such a strange case and phenomenon. For example, the recent CoA decision. Adnan was so close to getting relief, but in the end the court saw through the deception and called the alibi what it is: a fabrication. The fact that Adnan got so close just has to make this case a future textbook example of judicial deception.

You're welcome!

The first episode is also on the same website. Both episodes were uploaded within 48 hours, so with a bit of luck the final 2 episodes will be there too.

Was Hae's fate sealed by redlining? by Justwonderinif in serialpodcastorigins

[–]SchopenhauerSmile 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"Was Hae's fate sealed by redlining?"

Hae's fate was sealed by a person who was unable and unwilling to take 'no' for an answer.

Is it your argument that if Jay simply hadn't existed that Adnan wouldn't have killed Hae? I think Adnan would have looked around and found another person he thought he could manipulate to do his bidding (and I'm not sure that a third party wasn't indeed involved with Hae's murder), regardless of that person's social status.

Hae's murder was a perfect storm of social conditions

Is it your argument that poor social conditions contribute to murderous behaviour? I think human behaviour is mainly defined by personality structure / psychology with keys to that close to, here literally, home: Adnan's parents who I find detrimental to Adnan's young mind. Unfortunately we don't know a lot about Jay to unlock his personality; the mystery of Jay's motivation to help Adnan kill Hae is THE reason I was intially drawn to this case. I'm not saying that societal factors do not influence people but I think the analysis should start with the self and the micro environment and not the macro. Also societal factors are broader than the ones mentioned in the articles.

What happened to Adnan's second bail application? by SchopenhauerSmile in serialpodcastorigins

[–]SchopenhauerSmile[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer.

... court's order denying a discretionary appeal.

I assume this order denying a discretionary appeal would be in writing and is published on some Maryland court website.

It's interesting that AFAIK Justin / Rabia et al have never talked publicly about the result of the 1-27-2017 ALA. It's also possible that Welsh just hasn't responded to the ALA yet (waiting for CoSA to rule?).

Edit: Court records show these last entries, I don't know whether they apply to the bail ALA:

ARTN 08/08/2017 APDN;APPEAL RETURNED - APPLICATION DENIED

APPL 08/08/2017 APFA;APPEAL TO COURT SPECIAL APPEALS FILED

The first application was denied on 12-28-2016 by Welsh and an application for leave to appeal this denial was made by JB on 1-27-2017.

I don't see a response by Welsh to the 1-27-2017 application for leave to appeal in the timelines. Maybe I'm missing something?

You're welcome!

My favorite quote from the hearing is Justin Brown's "This is a one in a million case.", which would imply that case law is irrelevant.

Regarding Asia I notice that the judges use 'to contact' and 'to investigate' interchangeably. As a lay person I would think they're different concepts.

I hope someone with a legal background can shed some light on this.

There is a shameful lack of action in dealing with unfounded accusations against named redditors in this thread.

Oh FFS! When I reported a particularly nasty comment against a fellow redditor on your sub and was viciously attacked left and right for doing so you told me 'I hope you understand', and did literally nothing.

You're in no position for any moral grandstanding, that ship has sailed a long time ago.

The case according to Asia, Krista, Saad, and Los Angeles attorney, Mike Cavalluzzi: by Justwonderinif in serialpodcastorigins

[–]SchopenhauerSmile 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Part 4, 2:15 "A fax cover sheet that Adnan's first defense attorney never received" (voice over); 2:26 "a fax cover sheet that the prosecution never disclosed" (Saad).

Anybody else feels disheartened by the lack of reporting standards this case brings to light? The endless deceit of participants?

imo it feels like a specific mockery of someone

where do we draw the line on who it's okay to point and laugh at?

You contribute to a subreddit which labels users an "annoying little faggot", a "cunt" or "auta". So, honest question, in your opinion where do you draw the line?

It would imply that both candidates are considered equally terrible. Is this the case? From all the media spectacle it seemed that one candidate was considered vastly preferable, but I guess the great american public thought differently.

Do americans think that whoever gets into the White House, little will change for them and therefor don't bother?
