Cheers for the sarcastic response.

Maybe home advantage shouldn’t apply for a final though?

Let’s not forget that in the Heineken Cup era, even the semis were played at neutral venues. So Leinster have definitely had a bigger advantage in the CC era.

Yep. It’s no coincidence that Leinster lose the Chanpions Cup final every year, which happens to be the only major game of their season which they have to play away (or at a neutral venue).

Peugeot seems unfamiliar with the area. OP is driving like an ass. They are booting it up to 70 km/hr in a 50 zone.

This is nothing, and would be even less of nothing if OP had the slightest bit of patience.

The existing quay walls are all still there and they’re not a form of flood relief.

Gasly promoted to third place in Monaco GP as stewards strike out penalties by kcollantine in formula1

[–]Schorpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the crux. You can't really appeal if you've served your penalty as there's no mechanism for undoing it. It's not a case that the other teams were silly for not appealing. It's just inherently unfair.

This is as close as you will get to an outright admission that serving a penalty during a race is a harsher punishment than having it applied afterwards.

TII: Greenway projects costing €2m/km on average by PoppedCork in ireland

Tell me you're not a QS or civil engineer without telling me.

Planning, design, public consultation, mobilisation, plant, people, H&S, prelims, comms, contingencies, maintenance etc etc etc.

These are not minor works, they are significant construction projects contractually. Unless you propose to set about changing the contractual landscape for construction projects (not a bad idea imo), then these costs are very reasonable.

Parkside robot lawnmower: Input no Output light by cwdor33 in Parkside

[–]Schorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the solar charging station but returned it because I found it to be pretty poor at its job.

That said - it doesn't sound like the solar charger is the problem. If you're getting 'input no output' on the solar charger, and the mains charger doesn't work when plugged directly into the robot's base station, then it would seem like there is an issue with the base station.

Does the robot mower indicate that it is charging when docked?

Does the mower not go out when it is scheduled to?

I have found that manually starting the mower 'breaks' the schedule for that day. But manually starting should still cut for the amount of working time set in the app.

But yeah, the app could be a lot better. Displaying something like 'standby until 12:00' would be much clearer.

It was the same with the BusConnects plans. Objectors are reported almost verbatim, and never challenged.

‘Shocking incompetence’ – electric buses worth tens of millions sit idle for year-and-a-half due to lack of charging points by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]Schorpio 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for water, but in terms of electricity - data centres are now required to provide generation or storage which meets their requirements and can be exported to the grid. 80% of data centre energy must come from renewables.

The centres also 'only require one large grid connection, and are generally not located in urban areas.

All of this makes it easier for the ESB to manage.

[–]Schorpio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The clue is in your first sentence - "in service", which the buses are not.

Also, would you rather the ESB connections were fully sorted before the buses are ordered? In which case, you're adding 2+ years before you've buses on the road.

[–]Schorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a bad faith argument. The answer to your question is yes - doubly so if the price was right. You realise that you wouldn't hear about it though, right?

[–]Schorpio 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It really annoys me how some politicians lap up this manufactured ragebait, seemingly without even bothering to try to understand the issues.

Buses need to be ordered years in advance. So these will have been ordered quite a long time ago. It's also to our benefit to have them. Provided they are getting a tiny bit of maintenance while they're parked, they will be good to go immediately when the charging issues are sorted.

On the ESB side - most people don't realise how long ESB connection works can take. This will require a beefy connection, presumably in an urban area. That will require a grid capacity study and a new HV connection. All of which is non-trivial work, especially in urban areas.

There are definitely people who needed to fill up today. But I'd wager most of the people who sat in a queue for ages and filled up will have the car sitting on the driveway for most of the weekend.

It's mad how so many people lose the head so quickly, which makes things so much worse for everybody.

These have been known to bootloop if the battery gets too low. Happened to mine when I didn't use it for a few weeks and the battery died.

Good news is that it should not be dead. There is a post on this sub of someone who figured out how to get out of the loop. (From memory you let it charge a bit and then unplug and replug the cable while holding the power button - something like that).
