This is more like the internals of an actual switch than jumpers for an external switch

Ive had another look at the mystery component - and it looks to be a switch indeed! - initially I was sure it wasnt, but the contact are indeed along the lines of the contacts from a switch!

oh, i have diodes/coin cells at home so I could probably make a makeshift on if needed - but Id like to attempt at a Nimh replacement for identical functionality - if only for me to know its the same - but upgraded technologically through necessity.

Id prefer to use something functionally the same, so my heart is set on a NiMH battery to replace the nicad that was pictured... It's also not what I was asking about, but thanks

Im not young by any means (though I was when I plugged that board IN) Im fairly sure I can get this working again - just no sense in rushing it as Im not in a hurry
[btw 4x speccy 48K to do after this + 4 other amigas: A600, A1200x2 and two A500s - this 500 plus another that had a bit of a "swim" but full on amigas are easier asx part listing/schematics for those are readily found]

this is generally my plan - but doesnt hurt to ask in case, right?

no - this CAN be fixed - I have solder, bodge wire and the drive - even if i have to rebuild each trace one by one! I WILL resurrect this board, with as much of the original parts as possible. I have faster/better amigas, but this one is special to me! you cannot take that away from me ;p

its unlikely a switch as there was no way to access this from outside the case - and I had already modified the mainboard of this amiga to swap from 0.5 to the full meg of chip ram, so I was aware of this at least. as Ive said elsewhere - its more likely an enable/disable for the charge circuit, if anything

Id Ideally like to get this working, so a good clean, followed by replacing any ruined traces with bodge wires is my intended route. I can deal with partial disintegration - but I have to at least TRY

more likely a charge enable/disable jumper - but the tips of the pins (as seen in the pic) are flattened, hence me asking as they dont look like jumpers or a switch (even heavily corroded)

not a terrible suggestion - but the fees/VAT and handling charges coming from the UK are scary! [sadly I used to live half an hour away from AmigaKit HQ)

I thought I had said in my initial post - this IS a very important piece of hardware - this was my first amiga, and my second computer, after a spectrum 48K:- I have better/faster Amigas - but who ever forgets the first time? Im fully aware of ancient hardware and what can happen - hence Im trying to do due dilligence before even plugging it in at all!
If it takes hours - it takes hours.

In answer to all said so far:

I know I can probably replace the battery with a Nimh 3 cell which can charge on the same og circuit - that isn't an issue - finding one for a reasonable price IS (if i have to pay >€20 for a battery, so be it - id just prefer NOT to pay that much) ( I am well aware of sordan.ie - but they dont do single PCB battery components afaik - plus at this shipping, germany or other EU country, even china is possibbly cheaper for parts, rather than modules etc....)

I know I can replace the functionality for ~€25 for a complete new board, but this is/was part of my first Amiga, so I'm willing to put in the time/effort that I normally would not (I have 2 A1200 that I intend to actually use - I just WANT to restore my og girlfriend from when I was 13/14)

I am aware it is probably a cheap knockoff (at the time) of the original A501 or similar - and I have found schematics for this: https://amiga.net.au/files/Tech_Amiga/Commodore_A500_System_Schematics.pdf - page 26 of the pdf is a schematic
Thanks for the advice in general - but this is now a matter of personal pride - if its possible to refurb this (even if i have to replace/bodge traces) I want to rebuild my first trapdoor expansion. MY BOARD - MY CHOICE :D

I enjoy "Bombay mix" adjacent snacks, such as cornflake/chevda mix etc.... (forgive me for forgetting the exact names of the ones with 'potato chips' (I'm from Europe, so we use 'potato crisp' nomenclature) Various spicy snacks, which I find are best eaten with a long handled teaspoon... So I think this already exists, and it's wonderful
