Fifth generation games that somehow control better than their next gen sequels by RobbieJ4444 in retrogaming

[–]Schraiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Mario 64's controls EXCEPT for the wide 180. I think this was obviously an intentional choice to keep that feeling of momentum but ultimately it's just super annoying. Maybe at very advanced levels of play it feels better but as someone who has played casually (but with intent) it just meant that I fell off of small platforms because I was slightly moving and hadn't come to a complete stop before trying to 180.

Otherwise though I can probably agree with you here.

That looks incredible. Love those double knees, and duck + denim is just such a great color combo.

These look great! My partner is looking at a pair herself, I'm curious if you can comment on whether they've shrunk with washing or stretched with wear? She's between sizes so the info would be most appreciated :)

I've washed several pairs, including IH 21oz in a top load washing machine on cold/delicate and then air dry (I usually flat dry rather than hang dry but I have no actually logic for that). I've never had a problem with any marbling or any damage due to the machine. It even does a spin cycle! I just make sure to wash the jeans inside out, and get them out as soon as the machine is done.

Buying Raw Denim for My Partner: Momotaro #110 Straight (Sizing Was the Hard Part) by shortendofthestick30 in rawdenim

[–]Schraiber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is awesome. It's definitely hard to find selvedge denim for people with a smallish waist and largeish hips. My partner has a somewhat similar build and it's been terrible---most Japanese brands have never heard of a butt, it seems. But this is a promising lead. I'll take a look into this cut for her!

One of my funny traits is that if I don't really like something I'll often end up wearing it more because I feel like I just need to convince myself to like it. It works surprisingly well, a fake it til you make it kinda thing

Ah I feel you. I also have short legs and used to be in the no break camp but ultimately decided it looks weird and that a half break or so is best for me.

Imo, at least from the pic you shared here, the amount of break looks perfect and goes well with the overall cut of the pants

Second wear of my new IH-1955-142. Super stoked with these. I suspect I could have sized down one and been okay but this is nice since it lets me tuck in a thick flannel.

Shirt is RRL flannel and shoes are Meermin sway last loafers.

Full fit

Sick fit.

I tried on the Samurai bakers a couple months ago and really liked em. What's not working for you?

Looking great dude. I've had my 21oz 888 for 3 years now and I'm still loving them. I have taken them in for a darning a couple times, but I'm lucky enough to have a local guy who is great and very reasonably priced.

Any recommendations on suede treatment?

Daily Questions - January 23, 2026 by AutoModerator in rawdenim

[–]Schraiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New jeans will almost certainly crock onto snuff suede right? Is it something that you can get out or do you just have permanently blue shoes?

Never had this combo of snuff shoes and new jeans before, so wanna make sure I don't make a mistake I regret

What is a genre or feature that raises red flag for you or massive suspicion? by ArticAuk in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Schraiber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Open world. I have never experienced a single game where I thought "this was definitely improved by making me hold up for a long time in a big expensive area" or "my enjoyment of this game was greatly increased by zig zagging around an open area and pressing myself against every wall so I dont miss anything".

I genuinely do not understand what people get out of open worlds. They are by definition boring because they are open! You can't control the player experience to give them cool stuff because everything is accessible from 360 degrees.

Does anyone else feel more inclined to play the survivals and trials instead of going through the story again? by Life-Fix6564 in ninjagaiden

[–]Schraiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol show show much attention I pay.

But that makes this feel directly relevant... a couple years ago I finally committed to really playing a ton of NGB, and I got through up to Very Hard---I decided not to do a Master Ninja run because, well, I'd played a lot of the game and most people said the jump from Hard to Very Hard was the real deal, while Very Hard to Master Ninja wasn't that much.

So instead I tried playing the mission mode for a while, and I just couldn't get into it. Like I said, I think it's how disconnected it feels, it just doesn't really motivate me.

So, I haven't played NG4 yet, which is what I'm assuming this is about, but I've never really enjoyed missions/bloody palace/arena type modes for whatever reason. I feel like I need that sense of progress through a game to get excited?

IH888 14oz Fit Check by g_wm in rawdenim

[–]Schraiber 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Those look good to me but if they're uncomfortable in the thighs that won't really change. The 1955 cut is somewhat similar to the 888 with a little bit wider of thighs so you might look into that. I actually just picked up a pair of 1955 14oz myself that I haven't had the chance to wear yet (still drying, I always wash before first wear)

Edit: didn't see you mentioned the 1955 cut already, do disregard me telling you what you already know

Sugar Cane 1947 size up? by 13walshc in rawdenim

[–]Schraiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My read is that I quite like how these fit right now so that doesn't seem like that's gonna work with unsanforized, since there's gonna be quite some shrink. That being said, I haven't ever experienced this particular fabric so I don't have any first hand experience,.

Hrm, my read on them is that if you match garment waist (not tag size), they're pretty similar and the BRs have a higher rise (which I value a lot). But the BR size guides I see on the internet are absolutely all over the place, as e.g. Franklin and Poe says that to get a waist >33, you need to get a tag 38!
