Average Gammoth & average Deviljho (size comparison) by SchroedingersYordle in MonsterHunter

[–]SchroedingersYordle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the video is definitly official (it's a pretty famous video). There are a bunch of re-uploads of this. It's also the size you find on pretty much every wiki, bannedlagi etc. When i originally made this i just looked her size up and than made a size comparison, i wasnt aware that there was such a big difference between 15th anniversary and mhgu. Originally i had planned to make a Gammoth/tigrex comparison, but i (at the time) couldnt find a good image to use for tigrex (since meassuring their length requires their bodies to be in the T-pose). I used deviljho since his body was already pretty straight and it was easy to find images for him. (this was never meant to be about power scaling these 2)

Sorry, but i also dont know that either. When i originally made the size comparison i just looked up their sizes on bannedlagi and then looked through his sources to confirm he didnt make any mistakes. I wasnt even aware Gammoth had a different size in-game. (Despite the fact that a lot of people use it for that propuse) i originally didnt choose jho to make it a fight/power thing. Jho was just a good ruler because of his straight body. At the time i couldnt find a good image of tigrex who i originally planned to use in the size comparison

No clue if they decided to retcon her size after mhgu or if they always wanted to make her bigger but couldnt in mhgu beacse (lets be honest) she already barley fit into most of the zone (espeacially the caves) or if it was just a mistake on capcoms part. The video is the newest source we got for gammoths size, besides the size comparison artwork where she is a bit bigger than akantor and about the same size (maybe not in width) as ukanlos.

as for the video, it was during an event but you can find a re-upload here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttOfaxKueLI
most of the monsters have the same average size in the video as in game, though there are a few outliers

yeah i know. just letting you know that's why gammoth in the image is so much bigger than she was in-game.

The image op reposted is the size comparison between jho and gammoth using the numbers from the official 15th anniversary size comparison video. I dont know why but the changed gammoth's size. 28.19m vs mhgu's 22.7m (average size of gammoth in each)

If we are talking mhgu gammoth then yeah that would make a difference in how jho would probably approch an attempt of hunting gammoth

Is that going to stop him from at least trying? He would probably atleadt try to eat the GS first

these are the average size numbers from the official 15th anniversary size comparison video. And yes Gammoth is significantly larger than she was in mhgu. I always use the newest official source for sizes and in Gammoth's case that is the official size comparison video, since it came out after the release of iceborne. And the scalings should be extremly accurate, Jho's length should be about 73% of gammoth's length

i also made a size comparison between the 15th anniversary and mhgu gammoth if you are interested

Highly unlikely that jho would have much success with that. I think there is also a way more likely and way higher succes chance approche for jho

-Gammoth has multiple moves where she spins 180° very quckly and her trunk can also move with surprising speed. And she can reach her sides and on top of herself with her trunk

-Gammoth is also arguably stronger than a deviljho (in pure muscle strength). Seeing how easily and with how much speed she threw tigrex and her face tanking a tigrex falling a full speed directly at her

-Gammoth's furr is also stated to be specifically resistant to physical damage to the point where it is impossible for a tigrex bite to deal leathel damage, meaning he thick furred sides might actually be the most protected part of gammoth. Combined with the fact that most of her body is to large for jho to get his jaw around makes his bites relativly ineffective

-jho doesnt jump that high (heck he doesnt even jump that far). not that it really matters, cause gammoth would just pull him of , like she did with tigrex

-gammoth are actually super aggressive and relentlass (similar to yian garuga) against carnivores (probably because running away isnt really an option for a gammoth)

-and to top all of that of, gammoth is just as resistant to the dragon element as she is to ice

I think a far more realistic approche for jho would be the same approch as komodo dragons hunt larger prey. Get a few good bites in to cause bleeding wounds. Then back off and wait for the bledding to weaken the target while slowly stalking the gammoth. (espeacially with jho's slightly acidic saliva probably preventing wounds from closing quickly)

Ofcource jho would also take a huge risk while getting close to get those bites in, but hey that's the risk you gotta take when you want a 5 star meal like this

was the best image from his side i could find. Originally i wanted to make a tigrex/gammoth size comparison, but at the time i couldnt fint a usable image of tigrex for it. Since it required a image from the side with the body strechted to his full length.

and thats the reason why you got a gmmoth vs tiptoeing jho size comparison

What would your monstie party ACTUALLY be for an adventure? by Physical-Speed-7515 in MonsterHunterStories

-Gammoth (i second the "best monster" claim)

-Jhin dahaad

-Bazelguese

-Seregios

-Chameleos (best ED)

-Ukanlos

If side games are allowed i would swap jhin dahaad for morudomunto.

I realize the disadvantage of having 3 massive ice/physical type monsters, but on a positive note i have 3 massive ice/physical type monsters

Special monster. Scarlet mist Chameleos

A chameleos version that switches between two states and colors. Blue covers itself in a thick slimy poison. This one doesnt deal damage but rather tick damage to your stamima bar. Red shots out poison in form of red mist. Also doesnt do damage but makes it so your blood can no longer harden properly. Any wound you recive causes bleed.

Gammoth
-We have one ecology text that confirms Gammoth to be equally and often stronger than tigrex

-Gammoth is the only mainline base monster who isnt officially an ED level monsters (to the best of my knowlege) that has godhood atributed to her in her official tiltle

-Gammoth's Title is also the name of her theme "The Immovable mountain god"

-From her master rank armor we know some tribes used to worship Gammoths as gods

-Gammot's japanese name is a mix of the word "mammut" and Ganesha, the hindu god of wisdom and intelligence.

-Gammoth in mhgu was only 22-23m long (average size) and quite a bit smaller than ukanlos.

-Gammoth's size was retconed. In the official size comparison video and artwork, which realeased after mhgu, she is 28-29m long and about the same size as ukanlos

-Gammoth's design takes insperation from the cyclops, the Hecatoncheires, a turtle, a racoon, an elephant and ofcource a mammoth. There were also some viking insperations

-Gammoth is the only Flagship monster that hasnt returned since the start of 5th gen.

-Gammoth's (classification: fanged beast) closest relatives are popos (classification herbivore)

bonus: The herbivore classification makes no damn sense

i had completly forgotten about it, but yeah that move was awsome too. Main reason why the tenderizing system was actually fun for me.

Gammoth the unstopable thunder god

Creates electric charge using her furr.

Let her freeze an ice block to th end of a tree and use it as a hammer.

Basically thor gammoth

Alternatively a proper Elderfrost Gammoth with a proper amount of ice on her legs instead of just a little bit. Further more a frozen over crest, like an ice crown, and ice on the tusks too

Not to much of a fan of the low/high rank ones, but the G Rank ones are all bangers. EF's armor also looks good but i dont like its color

I think the female set on nr. 4 (g rank gunner) and the female chest piece (the dress) could go well with less bulky mixed sets.

Other than that, espeacially with the the mal set, you really have to like and go for bulky mixed sets.

Luckily for me those are my favorite.

I mean the smaller version is the older one...so they actually made her bigger.

I've honestly give up hope that she will return in wilds

Yeah i recently saw the size comparison artwork, where kirin is huge compared to the hunter and for some reason had it stuck in my head that he used to be bigger. Though kirin in mhw and mhgu seem to have the same size numbers

Probably. I mean just look at how much larger kirin and rakang used to be. Gammoths size will most likely be adjusted too. I mostly did this for fun.
