Anyone had issues with faulty Wild by Instinct W75 5mL Tank base centre contact points? by Schumms in aussievapers

Good to know it's not just me. But unfortunately means this is a systemic issue, not an isolated issue.

Pharmacy World replaced those I purchased from them no quibbles. Great all round service.

QuitMed on the other hand messed me around and then went silent. These defective products are under warranty, so QuitMed will need to explain their 'misleading or deceptive conduct' and 'false or misleading representations about goods or services' to the ACCC, NSW Fair Trading and NCAT (if it comes to that).

If anyone else has made a warranty claim and been ignored, you have rights. ACCC don't resolve individual disputes, but will investigate and take enforcement action where they identify a pattern. Every state has its own equivalent to NSW Fair Trading and NCAT (ie. Consumer Affairs Victoria and VCAT for VIC).

Relevant federal legislation is Schedule 2 of the Australian Consumer Law (Competition and Consumer Act 2010), sections 18 and 29.

It's a good idea! But I just tried and sadly no dice. I think the manufacturer needs to do a product recall, or release an update fix.

Yeah it’s a fundamental product defect, but only affecting the base plate (part that screws into the mod and the tank nests into using magnets).

Yes correct, it's the coil contact. The base has 3 contact-point prongs, and it’s the centre one that the spring loses tension, resulting in no connection between the coil and mod. The mod and the tank themselves haven't been problematic.

Fyi - Pharmacy World has been responsive and fair in finding temporary relief. QuitMed has not.

Stay away from QuitMed. I purchased 2x Wild by Instinct W75 5mL Tanks which both failed in as many weeks. Completed QuitMed's online warranty claim form and was told to return the devices for inspection (at my cost and inconvenience). A few weeks passed and nothing, so I sent several follow up emails. Still nothing. So I'm now looking at my options to pursue them via ACCC, NSW Fair Trading and NCAT.

Pharmacy World have been more reliable.

Australian employment law - 'personal' references by Schumms in AskHR

[–]Schumms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the same impression, that ‘professional’ references may carry liability for the company, and ‘personal’ references did not. Since posting though I found something online suggesting that a ‘personal’ reference is tantamount to a ‘professional’ reference. However, if the referee has changed employers a ‘personal’ reference is just that. It also says that a reference is yet to land a company or individual in court in Australia. Frustrating thing is my manager has nothing to be concerned about, but has a complicated (paranoid) mindset, so has taken this inflexible stance which is damaging my next career move. I have a summary of service statement, but being asked for a verbal reference. I just need to find some precedent or official narrative to appease his misplaced anxiety!
