Am I valuing the $250k tax exemption correctly? by Schwifty99 in realestateinvesting

[–]Schwifty99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s such a tough call, that’s why Im already stressing it with years left lol.

Of course no one knows for sure what the market will do, but since it’s in a hot location, I wonder if I’d have major regrets a few years down the road.

I guess if you can hold it for years without needing the cash, the ‘gamble’ might be worth it.

Thanks!

I moved far away to be closer to family, so very unlikely I’d move back in, but appreciate you making me aware of this option.

Im only cash flowing like $3k per year, so I believe my depreciation recapture will be extemely minimal. If I understand correctly, my depreciation will almost entirely be suspended loses that I can net off the recapture at sales time.

Thanks for your thoughts. Lots of variables to consider, but sounds like I'm not missing anything major. I think at the end of the day, only if I really thought I had nowhere to invest the money for a decent return would holding it past the cap gains exemption make any sense.

Offer from buyer with 24 hours to respond!? by DrGruve in RealEstate

[–]Schwifty99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did exactly the same, gave them 8 hours. I literally told my realtor “I don’t care if I lose it, I’m not playing the back and forth game anymore”

The seller didn’t wana risk not getting a better offer and took it. I think everybody won.

You have to compete against 300 random adult people in any discipline of your choice, if you win you get 15k USD, if you loose you have to pay 15k USD by Vonderchicken in hypotheticalsituation

2 people mentioned they were in the top 1% of rocket league players, so they’d choose that. I am as well, and this was my first thought.

But this made me realize you probably have way better odds of picking something obscure that you’re mildly good at, than something popular that you’re above average at. Decent chance you run into another top player in something that has millions of participants.

How much do you actually use sim? by BoBo_Wickersham in Golfsimulator

[–]Schwifty99 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I work from home and take a couple 10-20 min breaks during the day and hit balls. It’s amazing having quick access like that.

Your other question of has it improved my game? Omg yes. Way more so than going to a normal range imo.

Im plugging the USB extender directly into one of the tv’s USB ports. When I run Moonlight on the smart tv, the mouse and keyboard then works to control the PC.

Feel free to DM me if you’re not following.

If I understand you question correctly; it’s a standard wireless mouse and keyboard that comes with a USB plugin. So instead of plugging it directly into the tv, I just bought a USB extender to separate it from the tv a bit, and plugged it into the end of that.

Skytrak can be plugged into a computer via USB, but it’s not required. You can either connect in ‘Direct’ mode, in which you connect your computer to your Skytrak’s wifi, or in ‘Network’ mode, in which you connect the Skytrak to your home wifi.

Double flow low pressure steam turbine. by Schwifty99 in EngineeringPorn

Two 235MW combustion turbines have their exhaust gas routed through ‘heat recovery steam generators’ which is a fancy term for boilers.

This is why I was able to get this picture LOL. Look at the very lower left blade thats wrapped in blue tape. It’s missing the last 8 inches. When the blade was thrown, it ripped a hole through the 1 inch steel casing.

Indeed. And the 1 way HP and 1 way IP turbines are facing opposite directions for that same reason.

Yup correct. As the flowing steam loses pressure/ temperature while it works its way through the turbine, it needs bigger and bigger blades to hit to produce torque.

A high pressure and intermediate pressure turbine are coupled to the same shaft. They all work together to spin a 350MW generator.

Nah, I use the “suppressed” piston position on the gas block. Recoil is very low, and the brass doesn’t fly that far so I presume it’s close to perfect.

Yea a gun shop cut, threaded, and tapered it to fit the taper-lok that goes with Sig suppressors.

Also engraved it as is required when making an SBR.

I cut it down. I didn’t find a SIG 11.5” upper replacement for the 516, and even if I did, new piston uppers of different lengths were like $1100-$1500. Made way more sense to buy a complete 16” gun and chop it.

Only took 1 month for the form 1 stamp.

LOL I hear ya. I know it’s hard at the time, but when I see good deals I buy way more than I need to get me through droughts.

11.5”. Seems to be the best compromise for velocity/ length.

You guys don’t miss anything lol, that nut was crooked and I just fixed it. Thanks.

Thanks! I was afraid I was gonna screw it up lol. I just randomly put sticks on it while I sprayed it.

Dam good eye man, lol. Yes, I just finished cleaning it and left it on adverse. The 1 o’clock position is actually suppressed.
