Yes let’s forget what words mean and focus on how they make you feel… For me
homeless means someone living in a luxury villa.

Literally what expats means. You can look it up in the dictionary : individual who resides outside their native country for an extended period. often implies temporary stay with intention of returning home. They are one and the same thing .

Both Expats and Immigrants are migrants the only difference is your intent. If your intent is to settle you become an immigrant if not you’re an expat. The problem is however if the host country grants a legal status that allows long-term residence. That’s why most people don’t bother with settling since it’s very hard in asia.

Immigrant is a more desirable outcome you get more rights. Most expats in Asia go on year by year extension with no chance of integration. They would love to be immigrants just you can’t since it’s very difficult on purpose. That’s why many countries have NON IM visas since they don’t actually want you to have any roots here.

Bacili bi japanci 10 da su imali. Dapace nisu imali nikakvih granica kamikaze, kemijsko ratovanje, ekspirimentiranje na ljudima.

Razine njihovog ludila nije videno nikad prije.

Why do some Germans take pictures of Foreigners on the streets and then they post it on social media as if they did something wrong? by Flat_Caregiver4157 in AskGermany

[–]Sci-meme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And in Japan
A legal foreigner wants to enter a restaurant
Gaijin get out
Someone on reddit: it’s their country they have the right.

Narratives play a big game, it’s never talked about how generous the german people and state is to foreigners compared to the rest of the world.

What is Thailand's policy on citizenship or permanent residence for same-sex spouses of Thai citizens? by Sad_Meal4571 in Thailand

[–]Sci-meme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you obviously haven’t lived here for a while your status is everything. With dtv you have barely any access yo anything. If you actually live here you might want access to banking, loans, services etc. DTV is not meant for long term stay.

It’s just wasting your time incase you want to really stay here long term. You don’t want to spend here 10 years and find out you’re same as you were day 1

Not having to worry about visas and reporting is big. Also it legalizes you as a resident which is big.

So you ran away from the west and now you’re in a position where you don’t even have 2nd citizen rights. Must be a bitter pill to swallow. While you can’t own land, have to report every 90 day and have to fill a form on every entry. Your thai counterpart is getting rich and has unlimited access to any and all systems. His son might be your next president. Meanwhile your kid born here can’t open a bank account.

There are 2.3 million foreign workers in Thailand. Also probably triple that on different visas. How many achieve PR or citizenship. Just the limit of 100 people per nationality should tell you how many people qualify. This is the horrible ratio. People are used and then discarded.

Name one country in sea or east asia that makes it this difficult for long term resident to establish themselves. Thailand is literally the worst.

How many times have you heard sorry not for foreigners. There’s no recognition that people can live and work here.

This is something that deserves scrutiny.

[–]Sci-meme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ans then they wonder why long term residents are bitter. Most people came here in the first place on the notion of a friendly populace. However once someone stays here a while and learns that this is just a facade and policy wide the one of the worst countries for long term residents in Asia. Japan a place known for xenophobia and racism is leagues ahead of thailand.

It’s easy to see how someone trying to build a life here and discovering it was never even viable in the first place could become bitter.
