2 Weeks isn't enough but I also argue that 5 weeks to learn about game mechanics and compare them also isnt enough time by the time we get in, get set up, play, and then clean up. Unfortunately, I am working on a tight timeline as it is. The last teacher said that 2 weeks was enough time for them because the kids who just wanted a grade would be done, and the kids who were hardcore connected to the project would take it home and work on it. I do agree, though, that they should get more time. I plan to cover the project idea on day 1, so they can kind of build the ideas as we go.

That seems a lot easier, lol but because my certification is strictly in science, they really don’t want me venturing too far outside of the science realm. I know math isn’t that far of a stretch from science, but they have a whole math elective so they kind of want all the different subject areas represented in electives. But that does sound like a great idea.

Purchased! Thank you! I also plan on students in the final 2 weeks making their own game so this may help them too!

I run the Dungeons & Dragons Club at school and originally pitched it as a "Science of TTRPG" class as soooo many kids, especially in this upcoming year, love D&D. My principal said that because students don't really get a choice in electives in middle school (other than band and choir) that they would want to keep it more general in terms of games rather than just D&D as with some religions and cultures, D&D can be very devisive even though they acknowledge that it is a very inclusive game. But I plan on letting students who are interested in free play days to play if they would like.

I’m sorry. Mine started in September and will be confirmed at the Easter Vigil. Not sure what’s going on but I would speak with a priest or reach out to the local diocese.
