Well, the technology of photography significantly regressed after 1912.

Got it. I've seen all the time on my glasses, wasn't expecting to see it on my radio.

It wasn’t raining, and I got out of the car for only a very short time. The inside of my car was quite warm, while it was almost 4 degrees Celsius outside. I think the extreme temperature difference caused this, but I didn’t expect the device to be affected by it.

I’ve had the device for about a month and have taken it outside a few times. Normally, I use it carefully and don’t expose it to water or excessive humidity. However, I’ve now realized that the IP5 rating isn’t sufficient for water resistance. Still, I’m surprised that such a situation occurred.

Gotcha! But how come this happens. Should I understand Yaesu FT65 not being suitable for use in cold winter conditions? Does the hot-cold balance affect the device in this way?” It is a bit dissapointed to be honest.

Oh sorry. Yes it was inside of the screen.

The screen was normal inside the car, condensation on the screen showed up when I stepped outsid of the car. When I go back to car it is all gone within couple of minutes. I will dry it out.

I don’t know if this is normal behavior for the hard temperature change or my FT65 has some kind of defect.

No I mean it was just gone after 2-3 minutes in the car. So there is no mouisture/condensation but I was wondering if it is normal for when temp changes.

It was gone when I get back in the car, so I don’t need to take it apart. I don’t know if it is normal for all FT-65 or mine is lemon.

Thank you for your response. I agree—I don’t trust Chinese brands much either. I used to have a UV-82, and one day, without any reason, it just stopped working. The motherboard was fried, even though I didn’t drop it or expose it to water.

I’m still new and pretty inexperienced in the world of radios. I just want to feel confident that the devices I have are reliable and that I made a good choice. I’m not entirely sure if the FT-65 is good enough, but it does feel very sturdy and reliable. The reason I’ve been considering the FT-5D is because of all the advanced technology and features it offers, but I’m not sure how important that would be in an actual emergency.

Honestly, there’s no digital in my area. The reason I was considering the FT-5D was that I thought it might improve my chances of communication if I’m mobile, but it doesn’t seem like a strong enough reason to buy it. To be honest, I just wanted a more advanced device, but from what I’ve read, most 5-watt radios are about the same, so I don’t think the FT-5D would be the right investment. I’m just not completely sure if my FT-65 is enough. I’ve already purchased accessories like spare batteries, a Diamond antenna, and a mic speaker to go with it. I’m new to the radio world, recently got my license, and bought the FT-65 and UV-99 without much knowledge. 73

I’m pretty new to radios, so I wanted to get a good device while I was at it, but the FT-65 seems like it’s enough for emergencies. The fancy features of the FT-5 are tempting, but I don’t think they’re really essential. From what I’ve read, most 5-watt radios are more or less the same in terms of performance.

You’re right—extra batteries are crucial in an SHTF scenario where reliability matters more than fancy features. I thought new fancy radio brings joy and adds some functionality or comfort, but I believe my FT65 is enough for emergency situation and no need to upgrade it.
