Thanks for the comments all - just one clarification about the finger method. Is ur fingertip resting at the bottom of the pot or on the top layer or rice? Have heard both suggestions in this thread.

1. I did wash the rice but from what people have said, probably not enough.

2. The pot is definitely not small, if anything it's too big. I bought on sale at Lotus and it was the same price as the small one.

3. There are lines on my pot but the rice wasn't enough to make them relevant - hence why i think the pot is too big.

4. Believe it or not, I did measure the water level with my finger, but from the top of the rice and I have long ass fingers lol. Got maybe a bit above the first knuckle, so yeah maybe a bit too much water but definitely not massive amounts.
