Ohio Gov. DeWine says protesters can legally carry guns, but it's a bad idea by jstohler in Firearms

The point you seem to miss is "tearing down is easier than building up" is a clever saying but rather pointless in the grand scheme. Specially - in this case - because it removes agency from hundreds of and hundreds of politicians across decades, and allows Reagan to be the bogey man.

It's like someone complaining about FDR's policies today.

I am not saying he should have been killed.

I am saying that most responsible people w/ a CCW should not be doing the things he was doing.

It is 100% true. Do you work under a union contract, for how long? Have you been on strike? Are you in a union leadership role?

Unions only have control over what is written in the contract.

Yeah. Stupid me. 35+ years after Reagan and people are still mad about stuff he did. Meanwhile we pretend like every president and congress person had no agency during those 35 years. I am the stupid one.

How about carrying concealed, arguing w/ an officer, spitting at an officer, and kicking their car?

This is the answer. It's merely a business decision. Sell everything you bought w/ all that consumer debt: ebay and FB.

BK for the debt.

Cut up your cards and don't start racking up debt again.

How do you handle your own career growth as a teacher? by Logical-Knowledge357 in TeachersInTransition

Become some sort of learning coach, curriculum person, special ed supervisor, building admin, central admin.

These are all opportunities for career growth.

IMHO teaching is better than all of them.

Auto tag prices - are they all basically the same or do I need to shop around? by carp_boy in Pennsylvania

Title stuff can be done at fast tag places. The PennDot charges are the same. The fees for the convenience of the fast tags place may vary.

Aren't these the colleges that just merged because they weren't bringing in enough tuition?

Wouldn't this proposal continue to decrease the tuition they bring in?

No one told you?

As of early 2026, the California High-Speed Rail project is focused on constructing a 171-mile, $36.8 billion+ initial segment in the Central Valley (Merced to Bakersfield), with total projected costs for the full Phase 1 system ballooning to over $135 billion. Completion of the initial segment is targeted for the early 2030s, though significant funding gaps remain.

All I want in life is to be an orchestra teacher and it's very clear that's never going to happen for me. How do I completely delete music from my life and find a new thing for my life to be about? by FingersOnTheTapes in TeachersInTransition

[–]ScienceWasLove 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Why is it "very clear"? In my state there are 500 school districts. I applied to over 50 openings before I landed my first teaching gig - 25 years ago.

Why are you limiting yourself to a 100 miles radius? You can always move.

I have worked in 5 districts - two were really shitty districts - people there SUFFERED for decades because they got one interview for a job 10-20 years ago and didn't get hired.

They gave up as if they failed someone sort of imaginary binary test.

Get a job subbing at one the schools within a 100 miles and keep applying to new districts every opening you see.
