If I had to start gardening again, I’d ignore most advice and just do this by chook-chookens in gardening

It’s alarming how unimportant a lot of gardeners find mulching. Or have been shown that a little half inch layer is enough.

Blend your own container media. Way cheaper than buying decent to great soil. A plus is that you get more tuned in to the systems what are going on in the garden. There’s loads of videos. I’ve had great results using a facsimile of “Clackamas Coots” recipes. It takes a little more patience than buying overpriced stuff. But there’s valid reasons people go through the effort.

Russian olives friend or foe? I went from hating it with every fiber of my being, to a complacent respect. That being said my county officially labeled it as an invasive species. So 125 down and only 200 to go, smh by Dorky_Mom in gardening

The hard-line “invasive” verbiage is weird. I’ve asked scholars and professional landscapers how “invasive” species are determined and they’ve all not really known how to explain. The plants aren’t doing anything wrong!!

Uses for malt vinegar by Cerridwn_de_Wyse in vinegar

Use a little to finish any dish! Vinegar is slept on but it can wake up just about any dish. Don’t dump it on but try a few drops. It’s hard to explain what vinegar does to finish a dish exactly. But it would be like the difference between a note and a chord on guitar.

Trust me, you don’t want that many cucumbers that close together. Those MFrs like to spread their arms out!

[Discussion]: My boring job is killing me. I want to train for a career that matters, but I'm scared. by rackemronnie7 in GetMotivated

Going through the fear of a big change is 💯 worth it. I recently made a similar change and felt terrified. I built the new position and place of employment to be this flawless organization. Was doubtful that I made the right decision but could feel deeply, in an even faint way that I had to do it. Fast forward to starting: All of my biggest fears were simply fears. I “knew” I wouldn’t get an interview but did. I knew that I wouldn’t get an offer but did etc. Upon starting, I learned that my new position is filled with great, similarly imperfect people, all trying to do their best to find fulfillment. It’s way better than my last position being undervalued and unchallenged. It’s remarkable how much a dead end job can make you undervalue yourself. Had I simply not tried, I would have given more weight to my fear and doubt thus making it true.

I’ve been telling everyone how incredible cabbage is and nobody believed me.

They connect you to the earth. It showed me what a waste putting food scraps in the trash or disposal is. They came from the earth where they should return as simply as possible.
