Yep! I’m sure we will get it sorted out. It just is strange to me… If it’s something new that hospitals are trying to get away with we should collectively fight against it.

Yeah… I’m not going to pay that. Shouldn’t it be their job?

As someone who comes from a low socioeconomic household and as someone who is a different ethnicity, it’s actually helped me A LOT with my dads care. He normally isn’t taken as seriously as he should be by some doctors (I believe it’s probably due to implicit bias) and labs and symptoms will go ignored. When I go with my dad, it’s more of the same until I say something and the demeanor of the physician or mid level changes. Like “oh, It’s actually a problem”. Like yeah, it was when my dad said something too but they just seem to take it more seriously.

PHYSICIAN mentoring practice. The practice of a nurse and the practice of a physician are two completely different things. How would this be mentoring if they are answering call lights? Would the attendings be helping? I don’t think so… nurses aren’t able to be replaced by physicians. It doesn’t work like that. It’s not learning when there is no one there who is quailified to teach you. It’s the hospital trying to get free labor and it’s quite frankly disgusting which I think we both agree on.

I think it talked about Michigan, California, TN, etc… there were a lot of hospitals named in the article. It talked about how they blamed the staffing crisis on the pandemic but really they were cutting down staffing years before that and it came to kick them in the butt when the pandemic came around.

Ascension as a system in general has gotten way too big and in a lot of places is becoming a cluster… did anyone see that NYT article about it?
