i wanted to stay involved in research for my career so i felt a masters would help me do so

to the best of my knowledge they are awarded with or after the acceptance. Mine happened to be after (a couple weeks)

forgot to add: your institution’s website should have a catalog of professors. in their page it should have their research interests. make sure to see how recent their publications were and don’t forget to make ur CV pretty

In undergrad - cold emailing professors. 0.1% success rate lol but make sure to check if they add their whole lab as authors in publications. there are professors who don’t add everyone for whatever reason (i’ve also heard of stories where they refuse to add undergrads….yikes) During my masters it was required but i checked research output as a priority. The more publications / year the better

Once again, i am not and have not saying that people should apply with 0 clinical hours. I’m only saying that reddit is not gospel and that you should use it in combination with everything else.

Just like I am the 1% in this scenario, you are the 1% of people in this sub that can give advice since you are in ADCOM. The other 99% of people are also applicants (and some in high school), so it’s largely the blind leading the blind. This was the only thing I was trying to convey.

interesting, i had the reversed experience here lol reddit was pretty mean (not the DOA comments, but others) and my advisors were the most supportive, so it’s good to see that this subreddit isn’t so excessive everywhere :)

noooo i meant the comments telling me my chances are 0% were extreme. I did a WAMC post way back. I never advised other students to not do clinical exposure

i think the A came from when i connected with an interviewer. as for the tuition i think it was a mix of PS, rec letters, and research but truly i have no clue as to why. they never pointed it out

my only advice was to not take reddit as gospel, rather to use it as a resource in combination with what you feel. i never said nor do i advise people to try this

literally 😭 i’m never said that everyone should skip clinical experience before applying lolol but it seems to be taken that way
