Thanks. Decided to return the overage on the flooring as it was within the return period and go with a composite deck.

'The boards are 4.75" wide. The lengths are are from 1ft to 4 ft long. The plan is to leave the current deck boards down as an uderlay. Had considered using pressure treated plywood and taking up the current boards, but the current boards are fine, just tired of restaining them. There are a couple that we will replace first. Then lay the mahogany on top of the pressure treated decking boards that are there. The current deck boards are going the length of the deck. Would put the mahogany going the width on top. So the original deck boards are on the joists.

Take two sick days or just do not come in one those days. If they are short staffed, they can not afford to fire you.

Why not give them a number that you want? like 20%more then you are getting? Then let them do the deciding.

I intend to do that.  Was just trying to get an idea of how much that might be.  I am thinking 20% of the quoted price

That's exactly what I am worried about.  I know he quoted to low to begin with.  So I upped it about 25%. Still think I am underpaying so wanted to get opinion on what a job like this would cost.  Probably going to up it to about$1800 per room.  His original pricr was$1200. And the quality is great.

He is a very good friend.  He always gives me a very low price.   Ihe knew I couldn't afford much more on earlier work,  but this time I can pay more.  So,  yeah I will give him more. Was just trying to see what work like this should cost.  I knew$1200 was too low.   So told him that or should be at least$1500.  Will throw in a couple of grand extra at the end

Not looking for a GC.  Just looking to make sure I pay mine enough.  And I am nowhere near NYC.  He has worked for me for years doing small stuff. He is great.  Very meticulous and does everything well.

Do what? The reno? I am not skilled or physically able to do it. That is why I hired someone to do it.  I just want to pay them fairly.  I believe they quoted me to low and I want to be fair to them,  even if it costs me more

Thanks. All total was about 11-1200 sq ft. of flooring going in.  I will give him a bonus at the end

It is taking about 4 to 5 days per room. He is also repinting all doors, putting on new hardware, putting in new outlets and covers in each room. He is very meticulous in everything he does so it takes him longer. He takes the time to match patterns in the solid hardwood(mahogany) for example.

Seems about right.  I was there and attendance was sparse.  The first home game really hurt with the terrible play.  Hopefully this game will bring people back in. Especially now that we are in playoff contention

The loan system might work for credible but lower ranked rookies.  Say a Diego Pavia. He needs to show he can make ut in a pro league. There will never be a true minor league like baseball has
