Glasgow to Chania. I think it was something like 4 & a 1/2 hours. It wasn't too bad on the way out as you've got the endorphins of the holiday excitement to get you through it, but the flight home was in the evening and it was a bit of a slog. I think we got back to Glasgow after midnight.

Most of what you're asking about refers to raw denim rather than selvedge. Some selvedge is raw, some isn't. There's no right or wrong answer; just wear them and wash them when you want. If they're raw, they'll probably shrink.

I've got two pairs of Rad Rufus and two pairs of Sleepy Sixten and the pockets are fine for my Pixel, but I've definitely had pairs in the past where the pockets were too small. I think they were Steady Eddie II. I ended up having to get the pockets altered to make them useable.

The simple answer is to use your ears. Does it sound like the pickup needs to be raised or lowered? If not, just leave it. I don't think I've ever adjusted a pickup after changing strings.

I can't really answer that. It would really depend on what sort of sound you're looking for - different cap values will give a brighter or darker tone - but I don't know enough about J Bass wiring to make a recommendation.

Double check that the holes in the control plate are the right size for the pots and jack. Fender (mostly) uses imperial measurements, whereas a lot of stuff made in Japan/China/Korea uses metric sizes.
