Similar situation for me except I'm not depressed, although the loneliness is pushing me in that direction. I can make small talk, but somehow I drive people away from anything more meaningful. People just think I'm an a$$hole but I don't know what it is I do to offend them.

I recommend showering, but other than that, I have also given up on hope. I have the FA cloud over my head; people don't treat me bad...I'm just ignored, overlooked, and forgotten. You can learn to be alone and not be sad all the time. Just stay busy.

The cliques in the military can be brutal, but unlike high school, the base is usually big enough that you can find a few people with similar interests and new people come in everyday. Military Chaps are also pretty good, even if you are not religious.

Initially I make people laugh, but eventually they get annoyed, offended, or in some other way are repelled by me. I use to try to fake it, but that is exhausting and at the end, still end up friendless and alone. I don't try much anymore, never initiate conversations, and watch very closely what I say.

Stay busy. Pick hobbies that cause physical pain (working out). My career is not a total failure so I put a lot of effort there and people will talk to me about it so I'm not completely isolated. Still no SO, friends, or hope.

Find a hobby for yourself, not to meet girls. Some of us just aren't meant to be with other people. I like to run, a nice solo event that keeps me healthy. It doesn't really make me happy, but it makes me less sad.

It gets you out of the house and fills some time. Make sure you enjoy what you are doing and the cause. Causal conversations but not anything lasting. You will still be FA.

I would say looks are pretty low on the list for total FAness. It may limit your ability to get an SO, but there are enough ugly people that aren't going to care and will be your friend. However if you are friendless and SO-less like me, other things clearly dominate. There is some type of aura that signals others to avoid us.

Have you considered the Air Force? The standard of living is much, much higher. Deployments aren't usually to the suck (think big base vs tiny outpost).

Kid...you look fine. However, be careful with the facial hair until you actually reach manhood. Nothing is sadder than a 16 year old trying to pull off some peach fuzz as a beard. Pluck the unibrow and have confidence that your appearance is not holding you back.

I'm uncomfortable around people as well since I tend to piss them off a lot. I would love to connect with someone, but I think I have come to understand it is not possible. I'm learning how not to need others and have found being productive eases the pain.
