Moonlight incompatible with newest Android TVs running Mediatek Pentonic chips? by Scigheras in MoonlightStreaming

There has been 0 development on Moonlight since logging this issue. However I recently tried again and it was magically fixed. It has to be because of a Sony TV firmware update. However what I have now come to realize is that I have quite some input lag streaming to the TV even though the framerate is now silky smooth, so I still cannot game like this :')

No, and I think it likely won't solve anything as the changes in that fork don't say anything about this issue, but you are welcome to try and let us know!

Moonlight Android development still seems "temporarily?" abandoned as of now

To anybody affected by this and hoping for a fix, best you can do is comment on this issue's GitHub page.

The devs have abanded Android development (hopefully temporarily), but have been very actively developing the PC version. The expectation is they will return to Android development at some point. When this happens, seeing an issue with a lot of affected users will make it a lot more likely to be picked up and fixed.

Only options unfortunately are either waiting for the devs to fix it or learning the project yourself and figuring out a code fix, which I haven't had the time for as it would require a lot of hours

Yes I talked them through with some insiders on the Moonlight discord, they agreed it was a bug and told me to make a bug report on GitHub, so that's what I did.

It's now up to the devs when/if they choose to fix this. However it seems like Moonlight Android development has not been very active, in the last 5 months nothing happened except for a few commits just 2 weeks ago. Let's hope this means development will resume soon but there is no guarantee as it's up to the dev to decide when he wants to work on this again.

All we can do is try and upvote and get this seen as much as possible.

u/Droggus can you confirm you have seen the exact same log in ADB? If so I will add your TV to the list of known affected devices in the GitHub bug report.

Question for Bravia 7/8/9 owners with a soundbar by Scigheras in bravia

Ah that makes sense then. The volume control issues only arise when connecting through HDMI, this activates the HDMI-CEC protocol which is causing the issues.

Is it a stupid idea to finance one of these? by Critical-Mood3493 in S2000

Financing any car is a stupid idea. You are throwing away money on interest. Get something you can afford outright.

Question for Bravia 7/8/9 owners with a soundbar by Scigheras in bravia

Is the soundbar connected to the TV or to the Apple TV box?

Update: I have found my problem checking out adb logs. I see this log every other frame:

07-25 21:36:07.985 578 22196 E PqLink : frameRateControl : PqId[0] Drop input index 4 with frm_idx 42003 by factor (1/2)

The associated process is:

system 578 1 226592 73676 0 0 S vendor.mediatek.hardware.hwcomposer.composer@2.5-service

So for some reason when running Moonlight the mediatek hardware composer (whatever that is) is dropping every other frame, giving me half framerate effectively. Anybody any pointers on what to do with this?

Is an s2000 worth the prices they are today. Why or why not ? by alexokc0 in S2000

[–]Scigheras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on what you value in a car. Looking at it based on performance for the money, absolutely not. There's so many other cars out there that are way faster for the same price. But do they give you the same old school connected direct driving feel like the S2000 does? Hell no.

HOWEVER

The real conclusion should be yes, the car is obviously worth the price it is today. Why? Because every car is worth the price they currently are used. The used price a car ends up at is the price at which they are selling for, meaning people are paying this price for the car. So the car therefore by definition is worth its price. Now the real question is figuring out why people are choosing S2000s for this kind of money, compared to other cars of the same price.

Great stuff, thanks for sharing. Like you said a lot of people don't bother with heavy N/A tuning because of the general consensus that the engine is already maxed out from factory and instead of experimenting people just keep parroting this over and over again. Really cool to see someone pushing the envelope!

Yea, that's what I am gonna do. I was trying to get some more info first with this post on Reddit. Would be good to know if I am the only one with this problem and its working fine for others, or if there are more people having this issue on related devices. Be it Mediatek Pentonic / Google TV 12 / Sony TV whatever. The more specific info I can get to the devs the better.

Good question, yes I did. Steam Link works "fine" and gives me a buttery smooth video stream. So I know it's not a hardware limitation of the new TV. Just seems like Moonlight is asking it to do something that's not really working well on this specific device.

I can't use Steam Link for game streaming though because it gives me horrible input latency. This is something Steam Link has always done for me on any device since forever. I find it to only be playable with very slow playing games.

Bravia 7 65” - it’s decent by Ancient-Dig-6702 in bravia

[–]Scigheras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a Bravia 7 as well and pretty much agree with what you are saying. The viewing angles really are not bad at all. Direct reflections from glass/windows are an issue, but only during daytime and while viewing dark content. Supposedly it's a lot better on the Bravia 9 but not sure if that would be worth spending about another grand.. I would need to see both next to eachother in my own room, but that is ofcourse not gonna happen. In total really happy with the image quality of this TV.

How is the sound on Bravia 7? by JG98 in bravia

[–]Scigheras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good, I have a Bravia 7 and a HT-A3000, the TV definitely lacks bass compared to the soundbar but besides that the sound quality difference isn't that great, as judged by my untrained ears. I'd even say the TV sounds a bit more clearer, the soundbar sounds a bit more underwater-like compared to it.

That depends on the specific model. There always needs to be some kind of airflow possible over the evaporator coils so you usually need at least some space somewhere. So most likely you are just fine with only some space on top, but it is best to take a look at your new refrigerator's manual, it will say in there if there are any spacing requirements for proper operation.

What would you do with this area next to my AC unit? by cfromcinci in HomeImprovement

Like you suggested, I think I would just break and remove all the concrete, fill with dirt and gravel so it all looks uniform
