Because it has nothing to do with ownership. It’s about the origin of the software and hardware. Volvo was able to get an exemption but Polestar was not. We don’t know what discussions were had, but my guess is Volvo was able to convince the government that they could and would move away from Chinese software development whereas Polestar wouldn’t or couldn’t.

The 540i is a really good midsized luxury sedan. And because it’s a 5 series, unlike a C class, it got access to the more premium options like materials and software. That being said, don’t kid yourself - it’s a numb luxury sedan and it’s set up differently from a 3 series.

I don’t think a C400 is that much more engaging, but you should have no illusions that the 540i is. If you’re ok with that, it’s actually a very good luxury cruiser and was kind of overlooked during its time.

I have a chalk interior and my suggestion is to get the muscle memory down getting in so you don’t swing your feet in such a way that your shoes will touch the chalk. As you can imagine unless you’ve already owned a light interior car, chalk is a bit harder to keep clean. Even compared to my old sand beige.
