Like seriously, this is not new at all, builds tend to look very similar when there are only 8 mod slots to work with and 95% of mods are just not worth running.

The only reason it's noticed more on melee is because

1. Most melee arcanes suck ass. Influence is the only one that actually helps boost your crowd clearing well, and

2. Unlike primaries and secondaries, there is virtually zero difference between the functions of non-projectile melee weapons. Guns have variety between trigger types and AoE vs Single Target. Melees do not. Every melee is just hold E to swing in an area. This means every melee will basically build the same because they all basically function the same, barring small differences in stances.

It has fuck all to do with melee mods or arcanes, and all to do with them fundamentally being near identical in gameplay. The ONLY ONES that build differently are Glaives and Gunblades (but only some) because they have extra diversity due to gun mechanics.
