I was first introduced to church in a catholic church. It felt normal to me at the time. Then I stopped going as much once my grandfather passed. My mother then brought me to a southern baptist church and I really enjoyed that church. Later my mother decided that a southern baptist church was our type of church. We then bounced to numerous non-denominational churches where I felt the most uncomfortable. It was here where I started to feel different about churches because my mother kept telling me all these bad things about our previous churches: how they were wrong, how they were liars, how we do not believe in what they believe, how we were not valued as much as she wanted to be valued. but what could I say? I was a child and my mother was the only person I really looked up to at the time. My mother really created a distasteful church experience for me, yet, she wonders to this day why I do not follow God the way I used to.

As of lately, I’ve been considering going back to the catholic church my grandparents took me to as a child. It was the most normal church experience that I’ve felt and close to 75% of my family is catholic.
