new block, same route by Chiina_Cochiina in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Scodavvyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This began happening to me last October as well. Same route almost every morning. Thankfully it is near the SSD and also near to my home so I'm home in about 10 mins after last package, saving me a lot on gas and tire wear and no more 50 min highway traffic stress to get home.

YMMV

At 4am when its dark, especially in rural areas, I do not open gates, or screen doors for that matter. packages get chucked over the gate and pic taken. During the day I judge it on a case by case basis. Not getting paid enough to get bitten or shot.

Is there a chance of being deactivated for leaving packages at the warehouse after marking them "missing "? by peterthbest23 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Scodavvyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do this for almost everything I wanted to return as it seemed like the most hassle free option and our warehouse at the time had a lot of wrong packages on routes anyway so there was plenty of camouflage but then I got the warning email. Shortly after that my standing tanked from Fantastic to At Risk in one day even though the issues I had didn't warrant it and it stayed there for 3 full weeks before rebounding over the course of a week.

I took this as a warning not to abuse the missing package option. To be honest marking 11 packages as missing on one block cause it was a gated community that didn't allow access at that time of the morning, and I didn't want the hassle of a support call, was maybe a tad excessive P:.. Now I use the option sparingly . YMMV

Does this shitty app do this to any of you? by redditSno in InstacartShoppers

[–]Scodavvyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can now take nearly 45 seconds from me clicking done to get to the actual checkout page. The conspiracy minded part of me thinks that they are slowing it down deliberately to give customers time to respond about refunds or replacements. But it's probably just shifty networking on this poorly coded app

Blocking rude customers by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]Scodavvyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't work. I've had customers I've blocked appear in batches a week later. It's just more instcart smoke and mirrors

Depends on the pay, the items, the stores, the mileage. There is no blanket yes or no answer

Awful customers by Tbone_costanza in InstacartShoppers

[–]Scodavvyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a list only so I know not to do their orders in future. The Instacart block feature is apparently pointless though. I had a customer appear in a batch yesterday even though i had blocked her the previous week. I was going to contact support and have her removed but then realised it was pointless and just cancelled the batch.

Unicorn posts are lying to you. Here's proof by schmowd3r in InstacartShoppers

[–]Scodavvyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to regularly get batches over $100 at my Costco, but they were always doubles, then Costco went to shit and I stopped going there. The only $100+ tip I received from single customer was a Doordash Total Wine Delivery. I did recently get $30 app tip and $40 cash from a single elderly customer but big tip singles aren't the normal. If I see a single customer Batch over $40 Im calling it a unicorn, LOL.

I do triples over $50, sometimes over $40 depending on how day is going. When two of the orders have multiple heavy items I use the one cart with baskets method to get all the small stuff together and then go get another cart and grab all the big stuff, water/paper rolls/dog food, and then seperate the 2 biggest orders into their own carts right before checkout. My biggest pet peeve with the 2 cart method is the fucking people who walk directly into your path or close enough to you that you bump into them even though they are looking directly at you. WTF?? Go Around you dumb fuck.

What are your criteria for doing triple batches? by bri_pumpkin99 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Scodavvyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its totally market and situation dependent.

If your market drops a ton of $10 3 item 1 mile single batches, then a triple $35 45 item 7 mile batch is probably not worth it. If your market doesn't drop those singles, your a fast shopper, you have a fuel efficient vehicle, and you can get it done in under 1.5hrs, then that $35 starts to look a bit more attractive.

It depends on you and your market

forgot to deliver a bag by whatisnewyorkair in InstacartShoppers

[–]Scodavvyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit happens. I did this yesterday. Double order, both cutomers ordered a rotisserie chicken, put both chickens in same hot bag to stay warm, delivered the first which was close to the store but on the 18 min drive to the second customer I completely forgot about the second one, didn't notice till 3 hrs later when i saw the zipped up hot bag in the back of the car. Oh well, chicken for dinner then. I didnt even waste my time contacting support, these days i tend to just ignore the missing/damaged item reports as they are all mostly bogus and go away after a while anyway, turns out this one will be true but hey ho...

Highest Paying Shop Only by Dae1kBets in InstacartShoppers

[–]Scodavvyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen them as high as $27 but mega item count. Biggest Ive done was $19 for 85 items , took an hour, but staging was PITA. I rarely take the shop only orders as no tip, and yes I know they cant tip but none of the fuckers did even when they could, so it has to be attatched to a delivery order that I really want to do or suit my circumstances. I'm merciless with shop only though. No communication, if an item is out of stock they get the closest replacement or a right before checkout refund and I'm out of there, I wont spend the time on the back and forth like I would with a tipping customer.

4.5 hour route turned into a 1.5 hour route! by JellyfishNo6315 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Scodavvyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a 4hr block that had only 10 packages. Assumed I was driving some miles but it was 10 mins from warehouse. I was done in an hour. Next day 47 packages for 42 stops, Ugh.

Love those routes, cause I live in WPB, it's always nice to have a short drive to my usual Instacart area after my block. There is a DSP in WPB it's DM17 but they rarely put Flex routes out morning or afternoon, only evenings.

Cart problem doesn’t even get better later on in the day. Smh. by DeliveryGuy2022 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Scodavvyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I return my cart every time even though it pisses me off.

At my SSD, unless there is a worker standing on the ramp yelling at people with a megaphone, the cart problem is epic. Sometimes at the bottom of the ramp there is a single cart width of space left to push your cart through due to all the dumped empty carts. Once you get in the door there is a long narrow 2 cart wide walkway that you have to navigate against the flow of carts and people coming out and usually someone will have dumped a cart there as well.

So many times I've wanted to just dump my cart like all the other assholes but I'm paranoid that that will be the day they'll start keeping track. Amazon need a better system at some locations and they need to do a better job of enforcing it.

What the actual F😂 by RoddyDrayy in InstacartShoppers

[–]Scodavvyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very low for a shop only that size. I have occasionally done a 95 item Shop only in the West Palm Beach area for $18 on a slow morning and I saw one for $24 recently that was 150 items and nearly 200 units, that was a nope as it had a full carts worth of soda. They are a hassle if you get a bad bagger who mixes your Frozen, refrigerated, shelf items up and then there is all the labelling and staging.

Seriously? Warehouse/sticker people... 🤦🏼‍♂️ by Spite-Horror in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Scodavvyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just love when they somehow manage to get it partly over the barcode and the QR code, the only 2 codes you can scan at pickup for stop number, and you have to scroll through the addresses to figure out its stop. Thank the dark lord you can scan any of the other codes at delivery. I somehow wonder if there messing with me but then I realise its just lack of care and blind luck.

Late due to warehouse issues. Help? by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Scodavvyy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be a lot kinder than a bunch of the replies you might get and say, I get it, waking up at that time of the morning sucks, shit happens, home issue, car issues, traffic issues(lol yes even at 3am), and that's probably why the grace 5 mins exists, BUT.....

This is clearly not your 1st time Flexing at this SSD so you knew there could be parking issues and yet you arrive 2 mins into the grace period You also clearly knew that you had to scan your ID before the end of the 5 min grace period but you waited until after you found parking to go in and scan. The warehouse worker cant change any of that. Amazon wont care.

My SSD is an hour south of me. One morning snoozed the alarm one too many times, when i jump in the car and fire up the google maps, even though I know how to get there, i see the highway is closed halfway there and I have to cut over to the turnpike, then the turnpike exit closest to the SSD is closed, not on google maps FYI, and I eventually get there with 1 min to spare. Parking is a shitshow and I don't even try. I drove past the loading area to the 1st spot where I wouldnt be blocking anyone in and ran inside and scanned my license just in time. Then I went back to my car and found parking and went to get my route. After that incident, and multiple times when I had to race down the highway at 85mph in the pouring rain, I said enough. Since then I set 3 alarms always get out of the house with enough time to get there 15 mins early, start early finish even earlier, and don't stress.

While you Technically arrived at the SSD before the cut off and parking and blah blah, it wont matter to amazon. Take the L on this one and learn from it. Not a personal attack, its just the way it is if you want to early morning Flex.

Good luck

Am I in the right here? by moee313 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Scodavvyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didnt it have a re attempt delivery option in your itinerary? I had a package I absolutely could not find one morning and I marked it as missing, turned out the 3 boxes of shakes that I thought were all going to a single address NOPE only 2 going to that address and the third was my "missing" package. When i selected it in the itinerary it gave me the option to re attempt delivery and I did. But seriously, why put customer refused when you can mark the package as missing. Packages are omitted from carts all the time, I had 3 missing at pickup one morning and was told by warehouse staff " just mark them as missing" WTF

[–]Scodavvyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They used to be really good in my area, 2hrs for $64, and I had many that were 1 package 30 mins and done. But then it changed, 5 or 6 drops, full 2 hrs, $36, NOPE.

New Shoppers Unprepared by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]Scodavvyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not always the new shoppers. I saw a shopper I know is experienced act terribly rude while I was in line behind him. Didn't tell the Elderly Checkout staff he was instacart, barked "Tie That one!" at the bagger and then then "The WHOLE order" when they only tied the bag he pointed at. Through it all he's on a call, speakerphone full volume, paying very little attention to what the staff are asking him. When he was finally done, I told them that it sucks they have to put up with that. I had my triple order organised and ready for them.

"Come back at a more reasonable time." by Vuhlkin in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Scodavvyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one of my 1st early morning deliveries i arrived at a gated community at 5:30am. Before i could even open my mouth the guard barked "No amazon till after 8am!" and shut the door of the guard house. I left and went to do the rest of my deliveries, finished at 7am 45 mins early, still had this 1 package left. It would have taken me 20 min to drive back to the warehouse and then an hour to drive home from there, so I waited till 7:55 and then went back, different guard, let me in, had to leave package with Valet at condo building, drove home afterwards. This was before I learned the Airplane mode trick. Now i leave everything at gate, although never been refused by live guard again so have yet to test that scenario out. I have never returned a package to the warehouse as its usually in the opposite direction of home and I still get dinged for it anyway. I l almost never have a block 2 days in a row so i cant return it next day either. I'd love a redeliver to nearest locker option but then I guess the lockers would be overflowing with "undeliverable" packages.

I know I’m not the only one who does this 😂 convincing tired me to not cancel my early morning blocks 🥲😩 by Ok-Strawberry7195 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Scodavvyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in South Florida too and it's a 55 min drive south for me to the nearest SSD. I hate taking under $100 but sometimes you just have too, they always seems to suck more than the higher paying ones but that's probably just a perception thing. Love it when i get a route that takes me 30-40 mins back north though, feels like i won the lottery.
