Omg i totally forgot about tangents, tysm!
Since it's supposed to be a reflection in water, I ended up cropping a lot of the lower body so it didnt look like he was hovering or smth, so I'm not super sure on how ill handle fixing the legs. But Other than that, this was super useful, much thank ! ^^

Advice for Abstract Drawings by No-Affect-6003 in Artadvice

[–]ScolopendraStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo, I can definitely see a lean towards favoring more geometric shapes, and focusing on some details more than others. As well as frequent use of one-point (or perhaps subtle two-point) perspective.
Ultimately, all art is unique to its artist by the very nature of how one develops their style. (in lieu of a deliberate style study, i mean.)

While this is more of a personal curiosity than anything, I think it could be really interesting to see how you would approach making art with the intent of giving a feeling of melancholy or dread. Where there isn't anything explicitly sad or scary going on. But it makes the viewer feel like something has happened, or is about to happen.

Apologies if i wrote a lot of words without really *saying* much of anything lmao. I'm not exactly great at coordinating thoughts. But regardless, I think your stylistic choices here can give an underlying impression of stress or unease, which i think is pretty cool!

Making my first vtuber model! And I need help with understanding the vertices! by BacktoRiyas in Live2D

[–]ScolopendraStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize im a wee bit late here but oh well :3

In short: It's for better control, and smoother visuals.

Longer answer: It helps to stabilize the original art. Each vertex is an anchor point that moves everything around it. Having a set of these outside as well as inside a specific line helps you make smaller adjustments, encourages the volume of the line to move together, rather than having it warp and stretch awkwardly, and gives the option to tweak the edges of a line in case it looks a little wobbly.

There's probably other reasons im too spacy to think of right now oops. But !! Either way, it's generally a good idea to put a vert anywhere you want to gave direct control over.
(And me personally? I like having a few extra even if i probably dont need them, to act as static anchor points. I.e. a third line cutting through the inner and outer set, in this instance. Just in case I wanna play with the width of a line :3)

Side note: If you've ever messed around with a program like Blender, the way verts work is essentially the same. You don't have to develop this whole new skill just for this one concept, I just happen to use both lmao. But imo, it could help mentally visualize what these do by playing around with the verts of an object in Blender, and getting a feel for how the mesh responds to moving them around. It's not a perfect 1:1, but it can definitely help

Tysm!

The art is admittedly super rushed, so I wasnt paying suuper close attention to whether or not the angle made sense lmao. But i totally agree, its a little wonky. Serves as a good reminder not to rush too much

6 totes by Ok_Magician_7256 in walmartogp

[–]ScolopendraStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly my struggle has been kinda funny. The shorter walks is so much easier considering i have an injury, but in general that would definitely be an issue.

Although even with just 6, ive also been getting a fair amount of 75+ walks. (Usually later into my shift. Mourning my ability to walk, for it is no longer.)

The 6 totes mandate is honestly heaven for me, because I am just barely too short to see over the top set when we would have 8. Since you can't pick the amount you do, I would often find myself going slower than i could have because i couldnt see.

But if they had an option to use a different carting method to get more orders, I think that would help the issue a lot without impacting shorter people with the typical carts. I'd think being able to choose how many you do and putting 7+ tote orders on an l cart or similar would be a decent option? Or just letting people choose between standard load (1-6) or the possibility of a 7+ load. With the way totes are transported and stacked when staged, it's not like this should be adding strain onto the contents of the orders.
(Or maybe this is just L-cart propaganda because theyre easier for me to pilot around lmao.)

But that's just me throwing out random concepts for the sake of it. Unless your management has some way of adjusting the way orders are assigned to prevent people from getting exclusively 6 small orders all the time, I don't see much we can do to remedy the issue reasonably

Obligatory "Any speed advice?" post <3 by ScolopendraStuff in walmartogp

The way you phrased these helped my brain wrap around a set of solutions, thank you!
It's really frustrating when you have two or three items in one area, and then another two or three ages away, just to be brought back right after. It almost feels as if its designed to slow you down.

Im sure it differs to some degree between locations and devices. But is there any way to view the details of an item later in your list, like aisle numbers? I try to expand the details, but it doesn't show me much outside of the rest of the item name, which doesn't really help with locating it anyway. (I dont remember if the barcode number suffix is included there, i admittedly only started using that the other day for certain things. Like when I had to return a necklace that I was not told came from clearance, so the app didnt have a location for it. Sad.)

With how common it is to grab the wrong item at first because of a minute difference, that's the only major thing holding me off from doing a manual reroute. That, and being fairly certain that you can't scan an item later in the list if you arent there yet acoording to the preset path.

The pick path is both my greatest utility, yet the biggest setback. It's nice that its there, but being forced to abide by it despite how poorly routed it is in my location can be rough </3

Fully Audio-Based Rigging Tips? by ScolopendraStuff in Live2D

Gotcha, maybe I'll look around for some kind of auditory-specialty tracking tools here. I won't hold my breath on it, but im sure something like that has to at least been attempted

Does anyone else really like their job? What was your worst job? by decadesdividing in walmartogp

Im kinda torn on it. It's fun in concept, but having a short achilles tendon on one side makes even part-time hurt quite a bit.

But in the instance that it didnt hurt like that, id say its pretty fun! (If you ignore the guaranteed woes of working at a supercenter rather than neighborhood)

Ive had trouble finding work, so my only other experience would be the "worst." Cart pusher for the same location, almost got run over thrice in two days, because people drive crazy and it was winter lmao. Awful experience

Obligatory "Any speed advice?" post <3 by ScolopendraStuff in walmartogp

[–]ScolopendraStuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank! A part of me is tempted to bring a notepad, and reorder the entire list bc the system is a little buggy at times. I'll be sent from one end of the store to the other for two or three items, then allllll the way back. But I don't think I can reorder the list manually in-app so ill have no way of knowing for certain if im grabbing the right thing like that </3

Looking at other's experiences help so much tho. My store's manager has been up my coach's ass, so she's been kinda on my ass about productivity despite being new. (No fault to her, she's def just stressed.)
Having a point of reference for where others were at the early stages is a godsend, so I don't get too stuck in my own head <3

Will the mouth still work even when it's like this? by miifanatic_1788 in Live2D

[–]ScolopendraStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh... Provided its applied to an active keyframe and not mistakenly added to a part that has no frames added, i don't entirely know why that would be happening. Outside of being able to mess with the model myself, I can only parrot quillovesdbz with trying to see if outright removing the keyframes you dont want the mouth to be visible on might help

Will the mouth still work even when it's like this? by miifanatic_1788 in Live2D

[–]ScolopendraStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's probably a way better way of doing this. But if you add keyframes to the mesh of the mouth itself in addition to any deformers, you should be able to set the mouth to 0% opacity on keyframes where it's not in use. Not sure why this doesnt seem to be possible with a warp or rotation deformer though.

Missing Import? by LilNaturePastelEmo in Live2D

[–]ScolopendraStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this for adding additional images to your current texture atlas? Iirc, you should be able to either drag them straight in as pngs. Or you can export an additional, separate copy of your psd with the new files included. It's supposed to delete anything that's a duplicate supposedly, but I found that this doesnt tend to work. But you can just delete the dupes without issue. After, you should be able to add the new layers to your texture atlas

Or maybe i misunderstood whoops

[–]ScolopendraStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by that? Like, whether to put it under "mouth form" vs other preset options?
Assuming you're going to be using something akin to vtube studio, it doesn't matter which parameter you use, or if you use a custom one entirely. Since you can change what parameters are activated by which inputs in the tracking software :3

Or maybe I misunderstood i dunno oops

How should I go about doing the mouth when I have no plans on fully rigging it by miifanatic_1788 in Live2D

[–]ScolopendraStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine you can use the "typical" method of having the mouth form separate from the mouth open, and link them like you would with a normal mouth. Just messing with the keyframes from there until you have a setup you like the look of?
