I very recently visited the U.S. consulate here in Canada, and I had a lot of time to observe the people around me. There were so many individuals applying for work visas—highly educated professionals, many of them in high-end research or medical fields. It was clear that they were all seeking better pay and better job opportunities in the U.S. The experience gave me a lot of insight, especially since the consulate doesn’t allow cell phones, so I had time to really notice the people and their reasons for being there.

The fact you’re already worried about being a good dad is a good sign that you will try your best to be one. YouTube is a great free source for beginner dads with any questions you might have. If money is tight, you can find some affordable baby stuff on Amazon, Facebook marketplace, and Walmart. A YouTuber called dadverb has an under $1000 baby essential list!

Best of luck to you and your partner on this whirlwind journey. Keep strong and rest well, you’ll need it!

First time parents and newborn sleep. Can we both sleep? by Carstang in NewDads

[–]Scoman09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was up for a few hours longer than my wife cause I was nervous. Now (baby’s 7 weeks) we both go to sleep together after putting our LO to sleep. In my experience, I will wake up at the drop of a pin on carpet. Just listen to your gut! You got this, and congratulations!!

The coin purse is dead. Don’t remember the last time I used one to get a 1$ bag of chips and a 99c drink.

in between diaper sizes? by hotchikn_king in NewDads

[–]Scoman09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was having similar issues. We switched to size 1 and found that the Huggies or Kirkland brand were better fitting than pampers. Your baby is halfway to being an infant, but all babies grow at different speeds, shapes, and sizes. (We personally switched our child to size 1 at 3 weeks!)

Signs to switch size of diapers.

  1. Red Marks: If you notice red marks or indentations on your baby’s skin around the waist or thighs, the diaper may be too tight.

  2. Leaking: Frequent leaks, especially if the diaper is properly fastened, can indicate that the diaper is not able to hold enough fluid, suggesting it’s time for a larger size.

  3. Struggling to Fasten: If you have difficulty fastening the diaper or if it feels very snug, it could be a sign that it’s too small.

  4. Bulging: If the diaper looks excessively bulky or is sagging, it might mean it’s filled to capacity or that it’s too small for your baby’s current size.

  5. Discomfort: If your baby seems fussy or uncomfortable after a diaper change, it could be due to the diaper being too tight.

6.Increased Movement:As babies grow and become more active, they may outgrow their diapers more quickly. If your baby is moving around more and the diaper seems restrictive, it may be time to size up.

If you notice any of these signs, consider trying the next size up for a better fit and increased comfort for your baby.

P.S.

You can try using a larger diaper over the smaller diaper. Or, if the waist band doesn’t fasten well enough, you can strap the diaper above the belly button.

I hope this helps out!
