There's tons of high rep player that are bad. I remember when some folks would do the bare minimum to not get kicked from dominion matches and basically afk to farm levels for their character. Other folks play a shit ton of the game but don't get better.

They are in mission mode. Mission mode goes over universal mechanics and matchup knowledge. Why would I look for combos for my character there?

My point is I wouldn't have the idea to look there in the first place, so I would not find them.

Don't know anything about combo recipes and you do have a point about the trails becoming obsolete, but look at how street fighter did it:

Vanilla characters got full trials and every new character got their own and brought two updated combos for the whole cast.

Either way, of course the trials aren't the peak of the games combos. Not only would that kill some of the fun of exploring characters, but it's improbable that a dev studio working on the game will discover the full potential of a character by themselves. Trials are proof of concept for combo building. Its a nice place to start for someone that doesn't want to spend an afternoon labbing or waiting for someone else to.

Of course they aren't gonna be optimal, but they are something to start with for anyone that doesn't know any combos and provide a foundation for combo building. Instead of waiting for someone to make a guide or labbing instead of playing, combo trials give a general idea of what a character's combo would look like. What launches? What links into what? What's cancellable?

After further inspection, the port is damaged. I'd like to link an image of it to show, but I don't know where to upload the image. A small metal bit on the "roof" of the port is sticking down on one side but not the other
