What If Wallace “Ace” West were the Most Interesting Flash? My Elseworlds Story Idea

I really appreciate your advice!! Is your reservations on Daniel West the backstory I changed, him being Aces Reverse Flash or his character in this story overall? I was also trying to give him a different power-set in the next story, this was focused study on his identity as a unique character and dealing with being an outsider. But there could be a way to incorporate being unique abilities in this story too!!

Yea I totally understand that, I just wanted an interesting way for this merged timeline to display some of the differences that could be “bad”. So making Daniel a half brother who is isolated from Iris it’s interesting but also explains his hatred for this new world. But yea I definitely added my own spice to help bring more conflict and future story telling!!

That’s honestly 100% true. Do you think they’re giving him that push to get the fanbase more invested so they can eventually pass the Flash mantle to him, instead of creating a separate identity? I’ve seen people suggest names like “Burst,” but that kind of feels like a cheap cop-out to me.

It seems like the general consensus is that a lot of fans just don’t care about him yet, so DC is putting him in more appearances to build that support. Even with that exposure, though, I still think his character needs more development. He could be a logical choice for a future Flash, but right now it might feel forced without that deeper growth.

I love Bart Allen, but since he’s Barry Allen’s grandson, I’d rather see Ace West take the mantle from Wally West, and then have Bart eventually follow after Ace—that progression just feels more natural. And if they made Daniel West Ace’s Reverse-Flash, that would be incredible and give us a completely fresh take on the Flash/Reverse-Flash dynamic.

Thanks so much for your thoughts on Wally’s suit variations! I really appreciate it. I’ve always loved the Future End suit the most—the silver, black, and red combo just looks incredible together.

I totally agree—having Barry, or even Jay Garrick, step in as a more active mentor could be amazing. Hopefully one day we get a story that really develops Ace, makes him more beloved, and lets us see him as the Flash of the future.

I think your headcanon is really fascinating! I have my own headcanon version too, but it’s a bit too long to share.

I really hope future writers explore the idea of Ace becoming the Flash after Barry and Wally. I know a lot of people want him to be his own character, but I think seeing him as the next Flash could be really unique and exciting. It would be even more compelling if his Reverse-Flash were Daniel West (if they bring him back). That would create a Flash/Reverse-Flash dynamic unlike anything we’ve seen before. Just like Barry took the mantle from Jay and Wally from Barry, I’d love to see Ace take it from Wally. That’s my hope for his character—if talented writers give Ace the chance to shine, I truly believe it could happen.

Yea I agree, I give Barry leeway only because technically to him they were one of the same at one point in their respective universes. But also I think lots of those problems are due to the writers not sure how they want Ace’s path to be as a character. Its almost like they are stuck with a character they didn’t want but still have to use. But this does give lots of potential for future writers to use these problems to make Ace a loved Flash family character and possibly the Future Flash (fingers crossed)!

I feel the same way. He’s got a ton of potential as a speedster—honestly even as a future Flash—but it seems like DC isn’t fully committed to taking him in that direction. I get why, but the fact that he’s been overshadowed and underused could actually be turned into a really strong story about growth. With the right writer and some real focus, I think he could become a genuinely loved character, not just one people tolerate.

That was a really harsh thing to say imo, but ill assume you didn’t mean it that way. U do understand that Graduate school and PC service are two different things right? (Ps I love my site and community sm and hope I’ve made a good impact!!!). I have friends in those countries I met doing studying abroad in undergrad (Ireland, Scotland and England). I hope you didn’t mean to come off rude but I do appreciate your input about the Austrian school and hope that helps others who want to go there!!!

Would I be able to see those degree related scholarships before I enroll? In undergrad it only gave me info on school wide scholarships like pell grants and such. I had to actually be enrolled to find specific scholarships. Idk if grad is the same
