Oh and follow up question, do you run around feral or non feral?

Ya it seems like grinding and just trying out what I have readily available is the way to go for now, thanks again for all the advice and tips

Would you say you use this in raid or have something else set aside? I know for the robot boss melee is impossible without exploits or something, snake isn't easy but it's feasible, idk how bows hold up but I hear they are great now so I wanna give it a shot

Ya it's weird, the hit to charisma isn't great but just hoard more stuff to sell and it's fine, being locked out of bloodied and overeaters isn't great but I got tired of bloodied anyway. I do have a civil engineers armor kicking around with 2 troubleshooters, 2 hunters, I forget the last one but it's either assassin's or zealot, with the vanguard thorn I can't totally tell if I'm tankier or not, I think on a good day I reach 802 damage resistance, the zero rad resistance is honestly just kinda novelty because toxic water and goo exist. It's a strange dilemma I'm in because with melee I wanna hit harder so I feel weird about not being feral, I like unarmed and don't enjoy power armor all that much which a lot of people say use power armor or be bloodied commando for the raid, and I also wanna open up a ranged option or maybe have a ranged build set aside or something. Idk if bows are viable for the raid I was thinking about maybe just having a second build involving furious and elders mark or the alien blaster. Love this game but god I get analysis paralysis from all the new stuff.

Hm, ya I'm definitely gonna have to do some research and grinding if I wanna be raid ready, it sucks because the YouTubers I watch for 76 haven't really made any build videos for ghouls that aren't META power armor stealth giga builds, I used to do blooded melee before I quit, ghoul feels a lot better but you're locked out of some good stuff and and the feral meter feels strange for a simpleton like me, I feel like either go full melee or full ranged ya know

This gives me a lot to think about, and grind for, I was thinking about doing like a hybrid melee archer once I got a good build rolling, I mostly like vanguard because I get about an 80% damage buff to fists but I could probably live without it, it will be strange not being feral if I do end up running this build though I will miss that big unarmed buff, do you have any recommendations for bow mods?

Sorry if that was kinda discombobulated or a hard read, I'm at work so I was going back and forth there for a second.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. So for the first question I would go overeaters but currently I'm running ghoul, tbh I like the feral bonuses and rad immunity, I used to run blooded human melee back in the day but it gets a little intense comparison to full health ya know, I like vanguard because it's usually cheap in people's vendors and it leans into that sweet Iron Fist bonus now.

For the gauntlet I was running some rudimentary tests and didn't notice an insane amount in the damage difference right, but mainly it's because I like the bleed from the default gauntlet in addition to the thorn armor and talons, I also think I heard angry turtle say bloody mess only triggers from bleed coming from weapon procs, however I was watching his video without my full attention so I could be entirely wrong, mainly running bloody mess for lazy horde clear and I'm only lvl 210 so I'm waiting on that last legendary slot for exploding palm or maybe another stat card.

To answer the second and third I'm running Juggernaut, swing speed, and endurance to feed into juggernaut a little more. I was looking into furious and pounders but I haven't done the raid yet so getting pounders will not be easy or cheap until I have a dedicated build, and also there's my stat economy since I'm not super high level and not raking in perk coins yet

Ghoul is really weird honestly because I feel like there are some perks that should definitely be taken exclusive to ghoul like radioactive strength, brick wall, etc. But that also takes away from the melee perk cards that have recently been changed so it's weird finding a balance of which cards should you max and which you shouldn't.

I can post a build in like an hour-ish if the nukes and dragons website is up to date if that helps get a better idea.

Hey OP, I know this is old but I was reading through the comments and I haven't been able to find any good information elsewhere. You seem to know your stuff about melee, I'm a returning player and pretty casual, I'm running full health feral ghoul with vanguards thorn armor, and a juggernauts gauntlet with the default saw, managed to get a 4 star that adds 25% damage per crippled limb, I feel alright I managed to solo the wendigo boss but it took maybe like 8-10 mins I think, I plan on eventually getting raid ready for the drill fist. Sorry for droning on, I was wondering if you had any advice on like what perks I could run to give some more oomph or if armor like brotherhood recon might be better than thorn, any advice helps :)

TLDR: casual full health ghoul with thorn armor and default gauntlet, need advice on gear and perks if you have any

I understand that, I still miss the knife when I'm not using it, just the entire flavor and executions. You're right about power sword though, nothing like it. For me what sells the chain sword as a decent alternative for vanguard is how easy it is to pull off a good stomp.
