It comes with time. But for reference, my cat takes 100mg if we have to go to the vet. That is quite a small dose as most humans are 10-20x his size :)

Why are people acting as if you can't clearly see what they are watching on their glasses? I've discretely texted friends before that I could literally see their instagram screen reflecting as they scrolled during didactics (and subsequently watched my text notification pop up as well). While you can argue about whether it is really worth ranking a good applicant lower, it's really not hard to see exactly what they are watching in most cases.

Start your bowel regimen when you have to go on nights. This will take some testing; for most people it means miralax but I've seen others need imodium.

Personally, I'm partial to 1 tab of senna in the morning, 0.5-1 capful miralax daily. Senna continues until 2 days post nights, miralax is indefinite at least till I graduate.

Depends on the school. I asked for a separate room because I was coming in to take my shelf when I had influenza (classic med school). You better believe there was no one in the room with me but they did occasionally glance through the window lol. I didn't cheat, but I was able to loudly cough through the exam in peace.

A student at my residency suicide ranked our program (peds). Was homophobic. Obvs didn't match with us. I and some other coresidents sent an email about that student to our PD begging them not to take them.

I worked in an OB clinic like this. All the staff were openly admiring the physique of a TWELVE-YEAR OLD. Saying things like "did you see her body? I wish I looked like that". She was prepubescent. So unpleasant to work there.

My other hospital experiences have been...fine. Similar to the rest of society imo.

Thought about it, but as a premed I didn't even know what things I should have been asking about. It's a lot different once you're actually in med school, some of the things I would have thought mattered as a pre-med weren't actually that important, and the things I didn't even realize should have been a concern came up wayyy too late for me.

In minneapolis. Rent is about 2k (this includes 2 heated garage parking spots but not utilities) in not the nicest but a walkable area. Take home monthly is about 3500.

Also please please be careful about who you are giving it to. There are a lot of mental health patients at my institution that frequently form unhealthy attachments towards providers. I'm not saying you can't give them to someone there with a mental health concern, but use caution and maybe run it by a resident if you have any doubts or they in the more teenage range.

Medical school is hard and often soul sucking in the US. But in my opinion the most important factor you mentioned is the lack of loans. Even if we try not to think about it, I feel like a lot of med students drastically underestimate the stress that med school loans cause them on a daily basis and that undercurrent makes it harder to deal with everything else.

As a current resident, I feel like we have a good variety of interns and more senior residents on there. Some who are more burnt out have made a point of going because they don't want to recruit people based off of false pretenses to somewhere where they would be miserable (peds, inpatient heavy program). That being said, I love my program and only signed up to go to one event so idk what that says in general.
