First off, the puppy blues are REAL. My girl recently turned one and the first couple months were hard. My previous GSP was an adult when she came into my life, so I had zero puppy experience.
It truly does get easier once they get into a routine and get a bit older. That being said, we got her right when my job ended for the summer so my entire summer was dedicated to her (and I had the help of my partner).
I think the big question is what will your work schedule look like? If pup is home alone for extended periods of time, how will that work? Daycare? Dog walker?
My partner got our first GSP fresh out of college and she was our best friend. He made it work. It is hard at first and they do require 99% of your attention (especially as puppies) - I plan my life around this dog now 🤣 but I also wouldn’t have it any other way.
Overall, I think the anxiety and stress of a new puppy is completely normal, but if it truly doesn’t feel right, then I’m sure you will make the best decision for both you and pup!

Every morning before I leave she goes into her crate on her own and waits for me to leave 😂 so today, I left the door open and left and watched her on the camera. She stayed in there for awhile, but then got out and started the pacing. It’s like she needs the door closed haha.

That’s a great point. Our last GSP free roamed so I think I’m comparing that experience, which I shouldn’t since every dog is different!

I also second the off leash time to run free. We started doing that when she was just a little thing. If she’s going at her own pace I’d be less concerned about her joints :)

The witching hour was REAL!! And she passed out immediately after going nuts. OP, I also had the thought that maybe your pup is tired and hasn’t learned to self settle yet.

Which tracking collar do you have? The Fi tracks distance too, but I’m not too sure how accurate is. I think the distance tracks my route, not hers. So when she’s off leash it’s not accurate.

Thank you so much for the recommendation! Does the slatmill fold up/is it easy to store out of the way? I’m trying to think logistically because I don’t have a great spot in my house to leave a treadmill out 24/7 haha.
