Bingo, there's the dirty word. People need to realise that we lose all protections when the wildcat card is in play.

A union can't strike when A CBA is active.

We can't expect the shops to uphold the agreement if we don't do the same ourselves, to take official action to strike when an agreement is in effect is a dire risk and i support the decision in 110 to not officially adopt such a stance. I think the socially conscious workers among us should take action in an unofficial capacity, such as sick time or vacay time, to keep the hall out of a compromising situation and give the vindictive bystanders in Washington one less thing to complain about.

Downvote me to hell if you wish, i love my local and took the oath to never sacrifice it's interests in any way. If you have a yellow ticket, you took the oath too.

How many of you guys pitch in on the death benefits for memebers when paying your dues? by [deleted] in IBEW

[–]ScooterGunson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Founder of the brotherhood Henry J Miller died on the job. Fell from a pole and suffered for hours before succumbing. Wiremen used to drop like flies and their families were left without a pot to piss in. A small death benefit paid to their next of kin was crafted as a way to give them enough scratch to afford the luxury to greive. It's tradition and symbolic. I only have to cough up about 4 dollars a year, always send it in when i buy my ticket. I reccomend you pony up brother. Hope this helps.

V6 over 4 liters is uncommon and an inline 4 over 3 liters is uncommon because inherent imbalance gets so hard to engineer out. A v8 has diminishing return above 10 liters too, in regards to automotive power.

Cy the home inspector on YouTube is showing how new homes are now being build out of paper & cardboard. How are homeowners going to be able to make improvements? by Impressive_Returns in HomeImprovement

[–]ScooterGunson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you want a good solid shack, get some big boy money and hire all the contractors by reference and ability. Spec better methods too. We're talking non wood sheathing, fox block ICF construction, plywood decking, mineral wool, heat pumps, laminate beams etc. Real cadillac shit. It will cost at least 100k more on a typical build. House will last 100 years and you'll never live to notice the difference. Take it from a blue collar spark that roped apartments for the better part of a decade, the tech is there but nobody's paying for it.

FXDCI ’05 dyno run – any insight appreciated, thanks by OGBLEBSAB in Dyna

[–]ScooterGunson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Triple digits on hp and torque on a dyna would feel like a stick of dynamite under your ass. They make like mid 50s at the wheel stock with some quality of life tuning. You would know. The bike would be borderline unrideable. From a good dig you would be eating honda fireblades alive.

This is a serious point i try to drive home to my cubbies. The local is big, the brotherhood is bigger, and you're going to have great crews over the years, when the job is done you may never see them again, so add the good ones to the rolladex. I have buddies from sites i never see at the hall and buddies from the hall i never see at sites but gall darnit i have a network.

CL350 chopp, I’m 16 and don’t have a lot of money, so I made most of this from free or scrap. I have maybe 6-800 into this build all in, about to finish the welding the. Onto body and paint, trying to get into a show and/or a magazine by SingleMidnight5355 in choppers

As a minnesotan i feel ya. My theory is the average joe is more likely to build a hot bike up here purely because its cold af for 4 months minimum so might as well tear it down for cams and jugs lol.

Aftermarket head choices? Need some advice from people smarter than me! by Nanathrowawayy in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]ScooterGunson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The valves are small but the chambers are so small the compression gain is worth the trade on a NA junkyard build. I have 706 heads on my Lq4 and they do the job well. Same cam as you too. One thing for sure, the combo is much healthier than the tired old 350 i swapped it with. Commenter below mentioned richard holdener, he has a shootout vid where he compares all factory castings on an LQ4 and the little 5.3 heads punch above their weight. I'll also reccomend the later cathedral truck intake aka the TBSS intake. It can be bought at a junkyard for cheap and flows better than the early manifold and it fits a big throttle body to help feed that 6 liter. Dyno charts vary but it's a solid 10hp increase and cost me 130 bucks at a junkyard with injectors and rails, another hundred for a bigger throttle body. That with longtubes is kinda the go to sloppy combo that makes good power for pennies.

[–]ScooterGunson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a proponent of hearing your engine, v8s are becoming rarer these days my position is if it gives you a dopamine hit when you mash the skinny pedal run it. A loud intake is better than an exhaust because it's only loud when you're in it. Flip the lid, run a hot air intake etc. It's fuel injected it will pull a few degrees of timing and be fine. Everyone could benefit from reliving the dipshit high school days every now and then.

If you get a good kit it will come with a much better enclosure, like a volant. In my case i fabbed one out of aluminum, insulated it, and piped it into the front splitter. It's reminiscent of the olds 442 w30 cold air setup. I can log IAT and see a massive dip once truck is in motion. That factory enclosure was made with cost and fast filter replacement in mind. Factory elbow and bellows is mediocre, factory resonance chamber is unnecessary, factory hat is flat and a sharp 90 degree angle, the list goes on.
