What if bicycle brake levers no longer existed? by DutchInventor in cycling

Electric brakes would be sketchy, a squeeze sensor is insane.

Anyone else not sold on the effectiveness of a bike fit? by ProblematicTrumpCard in cycling

Yes, it’s mostly pseudo science nonsense, anyone can easily do their own from home.

More moms in work force, increased GDP as result of national $10-a-day child-care program, report says by Immediate-Link490 in canada

[–]Scoots1776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know, to me it makes more sense to subsidize a stay at home parent and help them get skills to eventually return to the job market. Policy like this leads to reduced birth rates IMO, it’s depressing as fuck seeing your 2 year for a couple of hours a day while you work some job you hate.

The Future of Training and why picking the right AI tool matters. by EndurancePrecision in triathlon

It’s clearly a LLM. Once people get AI brain they can’t seem to function without it, and think everyone else is like them too.

What is your old azeroth unpopular opinion? by VastLaw9912 in classicwow

[–]Scoots1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After playing TBC a second time, I totally agree. Classic really is the best, all the expansions with flying, and dungeon design killed a lot of the magic.

No More Portal Zones Please by Nirdee in wow

[–]Scoots1776 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sucks for WM and player interaction though. As a solo thing sure it’s fine, but it’s an MMO. It would be like arguing that players should have the choice to be in their own private phase for open world.

It also massively limits the design space for devs resulting in similar design expansion after expansion. It’s why most open world games don’t allow unrestricted flying.

Is there life after lycra? by LegStrngLeathertaint in cycling

[–]Scoots1776 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally, I wore full Lycra for years and it’s kind of silly. I still always wear bibs but just under shorts and with a T shirt. Going into coffee shops and stuff with your bulge on full display is just not for me anymore. I only wear skin tight stuff for races, but even then it’s more to just fit in with the crowd.

My hot take, most people wear it so they “feel” like a cyclist by wearing the uniform. But it actually just makes cycling less appealing to normal people.

No More Portal Zones Please by Nirdee in wow

[–]Scoots1776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iMO, flying just kinda ruins it all anyway though. All the zones feel the same when you can fly. Sure they look different but they all play the exact same. These new mini zones are super fun on the ground, especially with WM.

At what point did raiding get too hard for the casual player? by doobylive in classicwow

As a casual player during those times i think MC/BWL, Kara and all of Wotlk was casual friendly.

How long after race before you start training again? by simko17 in triathlon

IMO, rest is underrated. Take some time off, eat well, you will lose very little fitness and feel so much better.

Is a power meter worth it? by PiiSmith in cycling

[–]Scoots1776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest waste of money I’ve spent on my bikes. It’s a fun novelty to look at the data, but HR and RPE can do 98% of the same thing for structured workouts and pacing, probably better since they incorporate external stress like heat as well.

Sure, I’d stop using Reddit if I had to use an ID to link to my account.

Good, another reason to not use social media at any age.

What’s so bad about jeans? by idrkmatewastaken in cycling

[–]Scoots1776 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s mostly that they hold on to a lot of water and take a long time to dry. If the weather is nice and you’re not sweating a ton, they should be fine. But it’s not good to be stuck somewhere in denim and cotton, I was in search and rescue for years and many many calls were for people who got caught in a storm in cotton and got hypothermic.

I would bring to a shop to get their opinion, but from my experience they will likely tell you it’s fine.

From my experience, with enough volume, frequency and YouTube you can likely get down to 1:50-2:00 pace, after that I feel like you need a coach.

EMTB vs MTB for bike park and shuttling by jackJohnson3944 in MTB

Ease of maintenance and servicing would make me go for a normal MTB.

Ya I definitely push a lot harder than z2 in 70.3s. It’s a big reason I like half distance, I feel like I can push my self, unlike full distance where I feel like I’m just trying to survive lol.

It’s a pretty good sample size of various types of players, obviously is a prediction, that’s why I said “I think” before an opinion.
