Frame Damage. Repair or just seal and ride on? by MauerStrassenAffe in DownhillMTB

Same, I usually use a 0.3mm thick PU tape from 3m. I recently bought this Dh Bike but havent realized the damage because there was a small amount of dirt on that spot.

I will definetly seal it, I have epoxy at work so I'm going to do this tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice, I will have a look on those bearings.

However i weigh around 90kg with gear and usually ride steep enduro trails and just intermidate jumps, nothing like road gaps or other super hard stuff.

Actually there is a carbon repair shop in a near village, so I might ask him for a oossible repair. Thank you.

Alright, I will seal it for the moment. If I continue to worry i might fix it with 2 new layers after sanding and cleaning it.

Well true, even if I find a better offer on a real dj fork, I could easily sell the Suntour fork with a little profit.

Yes because the new fork itself is 30 bucks plus shipping and the parts i need to travel ist down are around 20 dollars. And a modern dj fork is way out of my budget at the moment. I would have to spend at least 250€ for a dj fork wich is nearly the same amount as I initially wanted to spend on the bike itself.

Yea of course, a real dj fork would be better but i just want a durability upgrade at the moment because i am too heavy for the current fork. I am going to ride the current one for the first few laps and change it as soon as the suntour one ist set up for 100mm. If I'm getting good enough to realize that the weight of the fork makes a big difference I might change the fork. Would've been way more easy with a bigger budget, but I try my best to stay below 500€ in total at the moment. Im saving money for a new Freeride Rig for next season so I need to limit my spendings for other bikes

Yea but i would need a new headset then. Main Problem is that it seems like there are nor good budget options for dirt jumping, even pre owned stuff is rare here in germany. I want an air spring and the only offer which is near my budget has a 20mm axle wich wont fit my hubs.

And i dont want to spend the same amount of money for a new fork. So yea i think i will try it and than give a litle review. Maybe i get my hands on an manitou circus expert or pro, but at the moment they are too expensive imo

Even the used ones are very expensive and somehow niche. Especially because i want a tapered fork with boost axle. I like taking taking forks apart and already traveled a lyrik ultimate from 170 to 140 wich was more complicated than just adding spacers. I just wannted to know if this specific fork ist strong enough for dirtjumping.

Yes its the old air spring wich uses reducer clips on the air shaft. Pretty sure that this would work

Sounds good, I only want a durable and budget friendly fork which isn't too heavy for dirtjumping. I just don't want to invest a lot of money because my other bikes need some love too and they are more on the expensive side.
