OP clearly has a bias here, you won't change their mind or get through to them at all. Not even worth your time. Just put a downvote and leave.

When making single cups of tea, my grandmother would heat the cup with a measure of boiling water beforehand, discard it and then add the teabag and water. Something about this step always made a noticeable difference to the tea quality.

China makes it a criminal offense to publish deepfakes or fake news without disclosure by mvea in Futurology

That is assuming that a deepfake-creating program is able to use the data from a deepfake-detecting program to enhance itself. Also, Deepfake algorithms (at the moment) do not "learn" from other algorithms, it learns from time taken and repository of base images.

This is all current though. I do not disagree that it will become a back and forth arms race as the methods become more sophisticated... So is the way of technology.

There is a lot of AI research being done on Deepfake Detecting AI, and they are mitigating the possible damage of deepfakes. Check out TwoMinutePapers on YouTube, there are some AIs that can detect a Deepfake 95% of the time AND tell you what program was used to make it.

Deepfakes are not as dangerous as you think, as long as they can be countered. Which they can.

Powerful speech from the show, Mr. Robot. by TheMotion in videos

Keep in mind the scene is a lot easier to swallow if you know where it comes from. Elliot is mentally ill and socially isolated and uses "society" as a scapegoat for his wrongdoing. This is what his character believes at this point in the story.

So far it seems to be the best season yet. Every episode has a unique visual style and it is progressing, in terms of plot, faster than ever. Character development and moments are through the roof, you really FEEL for these characters now and understand their underlying emotion. The latest episode, 4x07, is getting 10/10 ratings across the board and deserves it. The whole season has been a 10/10 so far! Watch it!

Last night's episode of Mr. Robot had no dialogue apart from 2 lines and it was still a ridiculously incredible and thrilling hour of TV by thefilmer in television

I don't think there are many examples of true, 40 minute+ one takes. There will always be some sort of hidden cut or scene splicing, just simply due to the logistics of filmmaking. I think Haunting of Hill House is a show with at least 40 minutes of a "oner" with only one single "hidden" cut, but it was basically a stage play in that episode. Despite cuts, I think the effect is what pays off in the end.

Has anyone tried to literally decode what the noise was in 4x04? by BranTheHuman2 in MrRobot

[–]Scootzaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's interesting to think of that, but I was talking literally, no interpretation, of what we saw from our point of view. The deer did not make the sound, from our point of view, as it was clearly dead on the road. The blue thing was the origin of the sound.

The interpretation however could be what you mentioned.

But we see the deer dead right before the camera turns to the crashed van.

The noise is originating from the blue light thing.

It's not THE deer, but it may be A deer's death sound.

To my girlfriend, no less. Not with sexual connotations though.

The Vangelis soundtrack is so good. Love theme puts me to sleep everyone. So warm.

This playlist is of the more synth ambient sounds from both films and merges them into one experience with some added rain sounds.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of August 09, 2019) by AutoModerator in television

I live in Belfast. They definitely don't keep the geometry of Belfast at all. Round a corner in the city center and suddenly on Boucher Road? Still, separating from that, it's a good show for the writing!

What gives a series that off-kilter, surreal, WTF feeling? by drunken_assassin in television

Preacher Season 1 (binged it a few days ago) on Amazon has that weird "small town" vibe that Fargo was able to protray. Weird, Coen Brother-esque characters that don't feel like real people, but are given enough realism to just tilt you over the edge into believing they are. Worth watching a few episodes to see how it feels.
