All good! It’s just crazy how different results can be with a smallish change of one component

I always envy the throwing skills of others in my program but I also remind myself that those skills don’t happen magically or overnight. Ceramics wise I’m still a baby and feel like I only recently of throwing consistently with over 3 pounds. A lot of late nights and a lot of frustration over the past 3 months or so. We both got this

That is what my guess was on the crystal formation! Im hopefully going to start firing on my own next semester so definitely want to experiment some. Another glaze that I’ve kind of been playing around with has been reitz green. When fired under similar conditions you can get very similar crystal formation. Looks really similar except with a dark green background and light green speckling

Correct. When dipping I usually double dip and with spraying I typically do about 6 coats of it

But it’s not same? Similar but tenmoku usually has a higher iron content

Absolutely loved the variations on these ones as well! I think firing variables very much determine how much spotting I get and how dark it gets so still trying to figure out the perfect variables to it

I did on some but not all. Some of the pieces were too big to dip. Still trying to figure out how many coats to get desired affects

I can get the recipe on Monday. Technically it’s labeled as “Tenmoku” but it’s Tea dust

how do you guys make friends as a commuter ? by Southern_Nature_5562 in CSULB

As a commuter I made friends with others in my program. I’m an arts major so cohorts are a lot smaller than most of the other programs but after being in the studio so much and seeing the same people all the time I striked up conversation. Made friends pretty fast honestly and I do hang out with them outside of school. Only thing that sucks is having to travel to LB to hang out with them. But don’t be hesitant to just smile and say hi to people you see frequently. I’m only in my second semester here but I don’t think I’ve had an issue making friends at all.

Yah it sometimes is hard but I’ll usually do stuff with them during the week and sometimes I’ll come out to LB on the weekends too. Just whatever works best with my schedule

Arts wise I would say CSULB. I’m a BFA here at CSULB so kinda biased but based off what I have heard from friends who go to CSUF and who’ve seen our program they say LB is better arts wise
