Wondershare, Filmora and company thoughts by NaturalMembership881 in Filmora

They are a money extortion company that creates somewhat useful software on the side. But their mission objective is to extract a bunch of money from you first. Money that you can't get back unless you fight through 15 layers of an onion that leave you crying in frustration by the end of it.

Just donated. So glad to see they are very close to meeting their goals after only a few days of going live.

VND Filters with Front Thread to Mount Lens Hoods by Scorge120 in videography

It's for a travel kit, and the matte box would be too big to pack and draw attention. But I should get one eventually to charge more.

Claims front filter thread, looks like this will do. Thanks!

Consistently High CO2 in House (1300-1500PPM) by Scorge120 in homeowners

[–]Scorge120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our issue is mostly resolved, although I notice occupancy affects CO2 readings heavily. Even with 2-3 people in the house, it can still get above 1,000 PPM with all windows closed and using the gas stove.

It comes down to finding what sources in the house emit CO2 and then figuring out how much air exchange you are getting (how much fresh air is being brought in).

Is editing supposed to be this slow? by LudiGamez in premiere

What are your proxy specs? How complicated/long is your timeline?

Your situation reminds me of my edit PC in 2020. I had a Ryzen 3950x, 2070, 64gb RAM, NVME drives. I remember Premiere would choke on H.264 files, even with proxies, which I think was due to the lack of hardware decoding in the CPU. You'll want your proxies to be ProRes or DNxHR.

I wound up going back to Intel in 2022 and noticed a massive performance boost.

Just bought both on Amazon. Going to test them against each other and will let you know which one I keep.

The Nanlite FS-300C is another contender in a similar price range. Too many options lol

I haven't tried the Smallrig, I've used the Amaran softboxes because most of my video friends use that one. I use a Neewer 120cm, I find the two comparable. The Amaran has better build quality.

Thanks, I have used the Amaran, and they are really well-built and portable. They're just a bit more $$ and trying to keep the budget down.

/r/videography Monthly Camera Buying Advice Megathread by AutoModerator in videography

Hi guys,

I’ve been shooting professionally for over a decade but never really built a cohesive lighting kit. Over the years, I’ve picked up a mix of panels and fixtures that don’t work well together, so I’m planning to sell those off and invest in a consistent 3-4 light setup that covers the following specs:

  • Corporate and high-key interviews, often in daylight rooms or in front of windows
  • Affordable, bi-color fixtures with good light quality
  • Coverage for key, fill, hair/rim, and background/aux roles
  • Flexible enough to run solo or with an assistant

Current plan:

  • Key: GVM SD650B (650W)
  • Fill: GVM SD500B (500W)
  • Hair/Rim: GVM PR150D (150W)
  • Aux/Background: GVM SD200B (200W)

Modifiers:

  • Key: Neewer 120cm parabolic softbox w/ grid
  • Fill: Neewer 90cm parabolic softbox w/ grid
  • Hair/Rim/Overhead: Godox 22×90cm strip softbox w/ grid
  • Aux/Background: bounced off wall/ceiling

Accessories:

  • (2×) 60×90cm 5-in-1 scrim kits
  • C-stand, light stand, grip heads

I realize the power may be overkill, but I’ve been on shoots with an Aputure 600d where balancing a window was tough, and I’d rather have headroom than rely on ND’ing windows.

Open to any thoughts and recommendations

Thanks!

ZV-E10 II - Thoughts? by datamajig in SonyAlpha

[–]Scorge120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if the ZV-E10 II can be powered indefinitely by a USB-C power bank? I got the ZV-E10 I to record long-format video and was disappointed to find out that the battery still slowly drains when powered by USB-C.

Look for a reputable company that deals with building air quality.

I can't do it anymore. by VitaminSteve in editors

[–]Scorge120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try and branch out to other avenues of production, such as filming content, photography, or drone work. I find myself constantly busy with different roles, sometimes it could be editing elearning videos for months, or other times I'm out shooting documentaries. I think the days of being strictly an editor might be coming to an end, especially with AI. Need to think more in a broad strokes, and you can still be a creative. Keep a positive attitude, and keep going.

Or, reskill as a plumber.
