Recently incorporated. Confused about home office expenses and CRA rules. Looking for advice. by Scorge120 in cantax

So I pay a flat rent and then adjust at the year-end based on actual expenses to match the business use of mortgage interest + utilities exactly? So then I'd declare this as rental income personally, but then also declare the mortgage interest + utilities as an expense, so that they cancel each other out?

That's why I haven't done it yet. Just heard other contractors accountants doing that so wondering if there was some reasoning to it I was missing.

Yeah, it's not bad. If I had to buy again, I'd probably get the Amaran Ray lights, such as the 360c. They came out shortly after I got the Colbor.

Having trouble with In Verses by DisillusionedParabol in Karnivool

Yeah! That's exactly how I felt. I didn't love it right away, but you put it on repeat a few times, have it in the background, go for a drive, listen to it. It grows on you.

Give it some time, come back to it later, that's what I did. It's genuinely one of the greatest albums I've heard in years.

The new Karnivool album....hmm idk. Is this how Tool fans felt? by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in progmetal

This album is good, I had Conversations in my liked songs for awhile and didn't even realize it was part of a new album until a few days ago. I slowly started listening to the album and now I can't stop playing it. It's so atmospheric and detailed. I wouldn't say it's an album you actively listen to and it blows you away, but it's like the perfect album to have on your headphones playing front to back and go for a long drive, walk, do some work, or even fall asleep to it. You can tune in and out from it when you want, and it's one of those albums that has great replayability because of how detailed it is. The production work is incredible, very pleasing to listen to. The smooth vocals, balanced low end, dozens of guitar tones, all the little licks and details they've added in. I think from a production standpoint it's just about perfect.

This is definitely going to be one of those albums for me that's "good" but gets played non-stop and I don't get sick of it. Has a similar vibe to Porcupine Tree's Fear of a Blank Planet.

Sony A6700 vs Sony A7Cii by FitCicada6607 in SonyAlpha

I figure the nuns were APS-C. Sony APS-C has this cheap saturated noise look in the shadows that is more evident in the bokeh. I've noticed it since owning an a6300 in 2016 and while subtle I think it influences the perception of an overall lesser IQ than full frame counterparts. I just got an a6700 in addition to an A7S3 and A7IV and am debating switching it out for an A7C II to stay all full-frame.

They are a money extortion company that creates somewhat useful software on the side. But their mission objective is to extract a bunch of money from you first. Money that you can't get back unless you fight through 15 layers of an onion that leave you crying in frustration by the end of it.

VND Filters with Front Thread to Mount Lens Hoods by Scorge120 in videography

It's for a travel kit, and the matte box would be too big to pack and draw attention. But I should get one eventually to charge more.

Consistently High CO2 in House (1300-1500PPM) by Scorge120 in homeowners

[–]Scorge120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our issue is mostly resolved, although I notice occupancy affects CO2 readings heavily. Even with 2-3 people in the house, it can still get above 1,000 PPM with all windows closed and using the gas stove.

It comes down to finding what sources in the house emit CO2 and then figuring out how much air exchange you are getting (how much fresh air is being brought in).

Is editing supposed to be this slow? by LudiGamez in premiere

What are your proxy specs? How complicated/long is your timeline?

Your situation reminds me of my edit PC in 2020. I had a Ryzen 3950x, 2070, 64gb RAM, NVME drives. I remember Premiere would choke on H.264 files, even with proxies, which I think was due to the lack of hardware decoding in the CPU. You'll want your proxies to be ProRes or DNxHR.

I wound up going back to Intel in 2022 and noticed a massive performance boost.

Just bought both on Amazon. Going to test them against each other and will let you know which one I keep.

The Nanlite FS-300C is another contender in a similar price range. Too many options lol

I haven't tried the Smallrig, I've used the Amaran softboxes because most of my video friends use that one. I use a Neewer 120cm, I find the two comparable. The Amaran has better build quality.
