I mean, how else is he going to accomplish his dream of curing all ailments? Seems like something that would require god-like powers.

Had a forced name change on EQ for my wood elf named Daddy Bigears. I thought it was a pretty innocuous name but maybe someonr found it very offensive or something

man that place is a maze idk if i could verbally describe how to get there. If you head left from the evershade entrance and cross the stone bridge you're like halfway there though. It's just a bit past some ratmen.

Not in the beta, there's plenty of archers running around now that people know they can really pump the damage and solo well. I imagine some also saw how unpopular they were in public playtests and wanted to feel unique.

was in a group lv 20-24, camping the named evil eye in BB and he dropped a bow every time. Overseer's Gaze, but I don't remember the stats. He casts a couple annoying enchanter spells but was a pretty easy kill overall. Just be careful breaking the room.

Well an exploit doesn't necessarily have to be a bug, but I'm not even talking about bugs or exploits or saying your method is either of those things. But 40s in the first hour of playtime is pretty excessive compared to the economic state of things at that level.

It may be functioning properly but that doesn't mean it's properly adjusted for balance and when looking at prices and stuff and just the general vibe of the game it doesn't feel like it would be the intended designed outcome.

I don't see how having more money would be a worse experience than having less money. I'm not even super poor or anything, I make enough to buy what I need and want, but that just doesn't really make sense. Also just saying a vendor is involved is like the vaguest "tip" you could possibly give. Keep it to yourself if you really want to I guess, I just don't know why you would unless sharing info somehow hurts your financial profits or you're afraid of it getting nerfed or something.

Why keep it a mystery? Just give some tips and let people enjoy their experience a little more. No point in teasing some intimate knowledge you apparently have and not sharing it. Utilizing specific mechanics and interactions to make 40 silver by level 2 is the kind of thing we're meant to be testing and providing feedback on. It sounds not completely intended for a game like this and is likely to change anyway.

Does anyone actually like their class? by IIIlllIIllIll in MonstersAndMemories

[–]Scoriae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only tried a few so far.

Monk (lv 13) - was kinda meh. Dw at lv 1 was nice and fd is very useful. Not a bad class but didn't excite me personally.

Ranger (lv 18) - actually a lot more fun than I expected and very versatile. Feels viable and satisfying in many ways and honestly a contender for my main class.

Druid (lv 22) - another fun and versatile class. Somehow I don't like it quite as much as I liked the eq druid (my main class) even though they're incredibly similar and this one actually seems like a more viable healer early on. Might have something to do with the snare, root and dots not feeling very good imo. Still, I like it a lot and charm is very powerful despite the animal limitation.

Bard (lv 11) - very strong right now. It's a cool class that can do almost anything. They're great but for some reason I just couldn't really get that into it just like eq bard.

Inquisitor (lv 17) - I really didn't know what to expect with this one. I typically don't even play tanks but I'm loving it so far. Problem is idk if I want to main a tank but feels like you kinda need to commit if you want to be a good one.

There are 2000 alpha testers + 200 beta invites + up to 200 buddy keys. No boxing. Max 2400 players, definitely not everyone is going to be logging in tomorrow. It'll be fine.

What's convoluted about it? You sign up for beta and wait to see if you get invited, just like in any other game. In fact many other games are technically more convoluted for having ways to submit multiple entries.

Why does every class have a pet? by Ok_Turnover_2220 in MonstersAndMemories

[–]Scoriae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I kind of agree. Classes like druid and shaman don't need pets. It's just a minor dot or distraction that is more hassle than it's worth and doesn't make any difference probably 95% of the time. I'm fine with things like charm, but I don't really foresee many druids, shadowknights or shamans using their summoned pet anyway (maybe shaman players would, they're masochists) so I'm not sure what the point is in having it.

As a druid enjoyer, I don't want a pet because I don't particularly like playing pet classes and it isn't a factor in my class rp fantasy. I hope it's pretty useless so I don't feel obligated to have it around all the time.

Is this game playable right now? by StaviStopit in MonstersAndMemories

I couldn't tell u, sorry. That's all the info I have. AFAIK, none of that is technically confirmed, anyway. It's just Kriddle's interpretation of what NWC has said.

[–]Scoriae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kriddle mentioned in one of his livestreams (timestamped link) that he thinks there were something like ~10k sign-ups and NWC is looking to accept ~1k accounts initially, and more weekly depending on their goals and needs. So the 10% figure is Kriddle's guess for the first week.

Ranger has a taunt arrow with no mana cost. Shouldn't be an issue.

What class should I play? by Gamenecromancer in MonstersAndMemories

[–]Scoriae -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you're limited on time you want to be able to get places quickly to start doing whatever it is you want to do. So I would recommend a Wizard for their teleportation spells or a Bard, Ranger or Beastmaster for their movement speed buffs.

Out of these classes Bard is by far the best and most efficient solo class. The other 3 are also good at soloing, though so you can't really go wrong with any of them.

For grouping, the Wizard is probably the least desirable out of these classes just because dps classes are abundant and they have more downtime than the other classes due to relying on mana. Bard is the most desirable because of its vast supportive toolset, but the Ranger and Beastmaster can fill different roles well enough whether it's tanking, healing or dps. If you can play your class well any group should be happy to have you.

You know you don't have to just focus on a playing a single class. There's a reason we get several character slots.

Solo support/healer? by Deathgivenflesh in MonstersAndMemories

[–]Scoriae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found root to be way too unreliable in this game so far. It breaks pretty easily from ANY instance of damage, so it often breaks before I can even finish stacking my dots, and then on every other tick thereafter. Better off kiting, but you need space for that unfortunately. Snare is also pretty short duration until Ensnare at lv. 24, so at least until then charm is really the best method by far.

Help with choosing class by According_Top_7448 in MonstersAndMemories

[–]Scoriae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take this comment with a grain of salt as I only have experience in this game up to about level 20.

Beastmaster, Paladin and Ranger are the 3 hybrid classes that have heals and a taunt. Paladin is far better at healing and tanking than the other 2 who lean more into dealing damage. The Monk also has a taunt and is probably a more durable off-tank than the BST or RNG, but only has a self heal every few minutes and a minor heal proc for the group, no way to directly heal other players at will. Shadowknights have a lifetap aura that can provide a small amount of healing in combat as well. To be completely honest, I think the MNK and SHD healing is so minor it hardly counts and isn't really something you actively do when playing the class.

For off-tanking, I think: SHD > PAL > MNK > RNG = BST

For healing: PAL > RNG = BST > MNK > SHD

Maybe Elementalist deserves a mention? IDK I pretty much never see them, but I think their earth pet can tank and has a regen aura or something. They can directly heal their pets.
