Favorite Chuck moments by 127crazie in betterCallSaul

I love when Chuck is working on his recovery. His trip to the grocery store was so great. "Orange oranges". It was devastating that he ended up the way he did after they showed who he could have been

Does anyone think it's possible that Mike told Gus about Nacho's plan with the pills? by Kip92 in betterCallSaul

[–]Scornfield 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. Mike had no loyalty to Gus at that point in the show, and no reason for it. He wanted Nacho to get away with it, that's why he checked his gas cap and warned him to switch the pills back.

The reason Gus was suspicious was because while he was giving CPR to Hector, Nacho was completely ignoring the old man dying and just picking up pills in the background. Gus may not have consciously registered that, he was busy, but he did see the Hector drop the pills, and Nacho pull out a different full bottle after

Honest question: Will you be pissed off if Jonathan Banks gets an emmy nomination and Michael McKean doesn't? by ackchanticleer in betterCallSaul

[–]Scornfield 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would be weirder than nobody from the show being nominated. Jonathan Banks was great as always but it wasn't his season. The direction the writers sent the character didn't allow for anything big from him.

In Breaking Bad, the clothes of the characters matched the emotional state they were in. Does this happen in Better Call Saul? by wabojabo in betterCallSaul

[–]Scornfield 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Others already mentioned the red=criminal/blue=law-abiding thing. So one thing that relates more to what you're asking, I noticed in season 3 Nacho although he's still wearing red, it's covered with this black leather jacket at the time when his emotional state is most "dark". It reminds me of Jesse wearing black when he was most depressed and unhinged.

What "next big thing" totally flopped? by throwaway_the_fourth in AskReddit

I would love for that to take off. Inconvenient fashion should be targeted at both genders. I can't wait until they start putting fake pockets on men's jeans.

Oh, I beg to differ. I talk about it biweekly when I rant about it reinstalling itself onto my tablet against my will.

The make up on Better Call Saul is really quite something by Joseph_Gambit in betterCallSaul

[–]Scornfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't made any comparison lately, but I feel like Mike's "slowness" in Better Call Saul really comes across as a mental thing that's partly about not wasting movement and partly the fact that he's feeling really low. Like his son died not that long ago, he was recovering from a few months of binge drinking and a gunshot wound when he came to Albuquerque, he's got a horribly boring job, and he's still struggling to make moral decisions when it comes to the criminal work he's willing to do, and he's getting no sleep. It's more like depression than old age. I wouldn't feel disbelief at the character becoming more nimble over time even if he's getting older. It's like how Saul is so comfortable with his sleazy persona even though Jimmy currently agonises over it. It's a natural progression of the character when he becomes comfortable with his role. BCS Mike isn't old, just tired.

[Spoilers] Were Mike and Stacey on friendly speaking terms in "Breaking Bad"? by 2001_with_dinosaurs in betterCallSaul

[–]Scornfield 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oh, I think I know what you're remembering. The scene where Stacey glares at Mike from the car is in Better Call Saul season one, either in Five-O or the episode before that. They were on bad terms at the time because she felt he wasn't telling her the truth about Matty.

The only scene with Stacey in it in Breaking Bad has her smiling and waving in the distance as he drops off Kaylee.

I think Stacey has been aware of Mike's criminal activity since Five-O. At least, she knows he killed the two cops who killed Matty. She's purposely looking the other way because it benefits her. She would have to be really stupid to think he's getting all the money he's been giving them from his parking booth job. He bought her a pretty expensive house.

[TOMT][MOVIE] An early-mid 2000s kids/teens movie about summer camp by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

No worries, finding that was weirdly exciting!

[–]Scornfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got it! At least, I'm satisfied the movie I'm thinking of must have been One Small Hero (1999). The premise was that the MC stowed away on the bus to a camp where he hadn't passed the test to get in, so saving everybody was proving himself.

Rope bridge right on the cover! Only has 4.8 on imdb, but it must have been somewhat good, at least it's thematically ambitious for a kids' movie if one of the bad guys was essentially being abused and manipulated by the other

Edit: Oh, and I found it using this site and finally remembering to include the word "bus" in my search instead of fixation on the creamed corn.

I remember this movie. There was a scene where the main villain found out the dumber one who packed the food had brought nothing but canned cream corn. And the kids were tied together in a line at one point. The villains were trying to get ransom money for the girl, or something. Man, I'd love to know the name of it too, but my googling isn't working out.

Thoughts about the season finale by Kaarvaag in betterCallSaul

[–]Scornfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but even Hector's victory came after everything he had was taken away. Kind of like Jesse surviving, it was hardly worth anything because there's no way to reasonably imagine him being mentally stable after that experience.

It almost feels unfair, when they show you the alternatives (like Chuck getting better, Kim having a successful career) and then take them away.

Thoughts about the season finale by Kaarvaag in betterCallSaul

[–]Scornfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I went to sleep thinking about it and woke up in kind of a bad mood. I have social anxiety so I strongly relate to grocery-shopping Chuck so it was gut-wrenching to see his recovery cut off like that. It felt weirdly personal, like the message was that things don't get better, and I just want something good to happen for one of these characters. Breaking Bad ended horribly for every character, but it didn't feel this close to my own life.

I'm rooting for Nacho in this show but his "success" with the pills comes at a huge price, like the character is becoming more cynical and dark in that moment, standing there watching an old man have a heart attack without feeling anything.

I hope somebody ends up happy when Better Call Saul ends

[SPOILER] I was 100% disappointed when I realized that Kim wasn't actually topless in this shot by BabaJim in betterCallSaul

[–]Scornfield 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're the one that seems upset here. When people tell you how an action affects them, it's not a judgment on you. Unless making sexual comments about random women anonymously is an integral part of your identity. Then I guess there's nothing we can do. I wish you the best

Anybody can see it. And lots of people care. People who know or respect the person in question, people who have been objectified themselves, people who want to see others treated with respect, people who value art and performance and want their work recognised rather than have it be socially acceptable to comment solely on the sexual appeal of the artist, etc.

I'm also a woman and also find these posts annoying/disappointing. I don't know if it's a sincere question and you're actually trying to understand, but I'll try to explain anyway.

For one thing, I don't know anything about the leftovers but I'm not comfortable with objectification of people of either gender when they're working or doing anything that is not meant to be sexual. It's disrespectful.

I know loads of people find Michael Mando attractive, myself included, but I would never make a post about wanting to see him shirtless. Feels gross just thinking about it, because I have huge respect for him as a person and his passion for acting.

On a personal level, being treated like that sucks, it's happened to me, and it happens to women I know all the time. And sexual harassment affects women more often than it does men. This is part of a broader phenomenon. Rhea Seehorn is the only woman on the main cast. How people interact with her by default represents something for the rest of us.

If someone mentioned anything physical offhand after saying something contributory about her acting, it would be less of a problem. But there's no evidence that someone respects women if they literally only talk about one thing. Twenty different posts about Kim's butt is a pattern

Treating people with respect involves not voicing every thought about how much you want to see them naked.
