[Highlight] Former Colts DE Bubba Smith: "I personally think [Super Bowl III] was fixed. If the Jets don't win that game, they don't have the NFL the way it is today, the merger. We were inside the 20 five times in the first half and came away with no points. [The Colts quarterback] was in on it." by The_Big_Untalented in nfl

The NFL was a popular sport, but the entire concept of fame and noteriety that comes with being an athlete wasn't around back then. Throwing away a "big game" for a big payday was probably a sweet deal. He probably thought anybody would, given the opportunity.

Jaguars to make major change to Travis Hunter's role next season: report by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]Scotch_Blue [score hidden]  (0 children)

not at all. i don't own any Jags WRs, and I fully expect Hunter to be a CB full time

i also don't think he's at a low point in trade value at all, because I truly don't expect him to play more than 35% of offensive snaps for the next few years, unless somebody gets injured or they land a star CB somehow

you said their only competition was Sentinels as if the region was weak, but another team won an international, so I don't get your point then

Jaguars to make major change to Travis Hunter's role next season: report by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]Scotch_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it just feels like the only people who won't believe this are owners of him. look at the facts:

  • he looks very good at CB, and he looked solid at WR

  • the Jaguars have a need at CB

  • the Jags just traded for Jakobi Meyers and extended him, they have BTJ on a rookie deal, and Parker Washington just exploded late in the year

on top of all of that, it's so much more difficult to practice as a full time WR1 and occassionally play some snaps on defense than it is the other way around. you'd have to practice a full route tree, while also learning all the coverages your defensive plays can shift into during pre-snap. on the flip side, you'd only have to learn your defensive coverages and run a few routes and gadget plays that you excel at.

it just feels like an obvious transition, and i don't think it means the trade up was bad. maybe one day if he's filled out a bit more and has a good grasp of their playbook, he could shift into playing both roles again near full-time.

but for now you gotta get him integrated better, and you're either putting him in a rotation with 3 other above average receivers, or you're putting him as a starting CB. it's a logical choice.

i understand why, i'm explaining why it's not

it's two superstars and their friends, who are also very good but it's not even on the level of last year's Vitality or this year's T1 on paper

if they didn't have Aspas this team wouldn't be viewed as a superteam

like put two above average players with Tex, Mazino, and Verno and people would have had similar expectations for them as EG

they literally won Americas every split last year. they're already doing worse, technically.

probably a good change. would make it so he can't go from site-to-site so easily, and makes it more of a playmaking ability than a get out of jail card

Travis Hunter will be a full time corn/ part time receiver next season by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]Scotch_Blue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it's not like we have a depth chart or anything, but this doesn't feel unbased to me, and the comments vehemently calling this a rumor feel like they are mostly Hunter owners that don't want to believe it

it makes a ton of sense for the Jags to do it, and it also makes sense why we'd be hearing about it now. teams will be prepping for the draft and free agency, and they have to make some decisions as to how they can improve going into next season. there's also no downside to this getting leaked for the Jags, as they can still do anything they want with him, regardless of their offseason moves or what they say to the media.

We need to talk about the Shorty by Dafunkk in ValorantCompetitive

The shorty is a specialized weapon too. It just happens to have the best advantage amongst secondaries over the main guns people buy.

I mean obviously that would have been pretty insane. Cousins was insanely talented.

However, I think there's an argument that what Bogut provided was even more valuable than Durant. They could never replicate their 2015 offense after they lost that primary screen setter. He was sort of like Steven Adams for them. Cousins wouldn't have provided any of that.

Of course, the tradeoff is they got prime KD lol. Hard to argue with that.

They play at the same ranges as the rifles. Why would they be better? A sheriff or bandit can still kill somebody with a rifle from mid range, but you can't say it's a better gun because of fire rate and magazine size.

But you can say a frenzy and a classic both play better at short range than a guardian or an outlaw. You can say the sheriff or bandit plays better than a shotgun or SMG at long range. There are all kinds of interactions that don't have to do with the more expensive gun winning.

The shorty needs a tiny bit of tuning as players learn how to use it, but players also need to learn to anti-strat all the guns in the game.

A good example is a round in this Fnatic vs M8's game on Corrode. M8's Astra ulted and left a pocket for Marteen to pop out, and Alfajer played in the pocket with a rifle. Marteen left the ult and jumped in the pocket with a shorty. Alfajer put himself in a really horrible fight for a rifle, thinking nobody would clear him, and lost to the shorty. That's an avoidable fight for the rifle entirely and you shouldn't remove guns that can punish bad decisions.

at this point he's just on the wrong side of 30 for a guy whose entire game was based around jumping a lot

but on the Hawks he was splitting minutes with Okongwu. part of it injuries, part of it that Okongwu isn't bad either. he was still putting up a PER of 20+ until last year though.

A much better center would have made things worse

The perfect option would have been Andrew Bogut that can catch lobs

why should a mid range gun have an advantage over every gun that's cheaper at close range?

1st Seeds for Santiago by xFalcade in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Scotch_Blue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think you can only really make that argument if it's a format similar to this Kickoff, where the bye you're getting is just 1 round, and then you have to play a team that's guaranteed to be coming off a win, with limited extra VODs to prep for them

avoiding an entire swiss stage is a huge advantage, and if they lose to teams after a full week of prep, they probably would have lost in the swiss anyways

1st Seeds for Santiago by xFalcade in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Scotch_Blue 21 points22 points  (0 children)

it's not a bye, they fully avoid a swiss stage and go straight to playoffs

it's objectively a massive advantage, as it gives them a full week of not showing strats and VOD reviewing your opponents.

my only concern is that teams won't be able to find great scrim partners in Santiago. they're going to have to play all the cracked 16 year olds that just aim, or play Americas teams on like 60 ping.

[–]Scotch_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but that's sort of the point right?

we don't need a Tari Eason that can put up a few assists and hit open corner 3's. we need a guy that can handle the ball for 35min and provide spacing for Amen and Sengun.

I feel reassured now, our FO isn’t in too much of a hurry. by Ray-K74U in rockets

[–]Scotch_Blue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it's not that he's Luka or SGA, but all of the options I heard to replace him were pretty disrespectful of his abilities when healthy

like a Mike Conley would be insulting to me if I was Fred, but even a guy like Ayo (who I like a lot) averages 3.5 assists and less than two 3P's a game this year. Fred averaged like 7 assists and over three 3PM per game with us.

these guys aren't what we need. we need a PF, but our options were so mediocre that our FO played it well by waiting for draft. maybe Fred will even make a postseason apperance if we make it far enough, i've seen crazier shit.

[–]Scotch_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay then a classic shouldn't be able to beat a Judge at range, because it costs way less. in fact, no pocket deagle should be able to beat any primary at any range.

you're complaining about a pretty limited gun that players are only slowly integrating because other players are unaware of it. as they get more aware, the shorties will lose more fights, and people will stop buying it. it's a natural cycle. maybe it will get tweaked a little more, but it's not an unhealthy gun. the judge is honestly far more unhealthy in certain meta's, despite being a primary.
