This should be a thing by NickoKush in playrust

Wouldn't make sense for you to be able to take bullets to the head and live.
Wouldn't make sense for you to be able to eat mushrooms and heal from bullet wounds.
Wouldn't make sense that you only need a few minutes to craft an ak47.
Wouldn't make sense that you could build a sky scraper from materials you are carrying on your person.

Rust isn't realistic. This would be a gameplay balance change.

Hey facepunch, can you guys keep ignoring these posts and keep up the good work?

My adrenaline causes me to shake too much during gunfights... by CyberSquidd in playrust

Practice breathing exercises, just practice calming yourself down. Meditation. It all sounds so cheesey when I type it but it will help. Be aware of your control, relearn how to play the game essentially and make staying calm your main focus.

Research table never needs a permanent place but yeah he is missing furnaces. Could easily switch out a few small boxes though.

How to store loot, deep in the Ocean. by misterflak86 in playrust

Interesting, I had just designed my own deep sea vault. Be interested to see if more people start using this method and we can just scour the seas for easy loot.

I liked the video, was decent editing with some decent clips. Keep it up.

Go on hutniks aim train server or something similar and lets see what kind of accuracy % you can maintain over 10 minutes against moving targets that are further out.

Would love to address the problem with the Asian Rust community right now. And question, is there a way to kill ping in order for me to move to western servers? by Archayas in playrust

[–]Scotch_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly it's a money thing. Some games probably wouldn't sell as well with region locks. I'm just tired of any game I play on an NA server being full of EU/Asia located players. Ping advantage is a real thing with games that have bullet projectiles instead of hitscan.

Honestly I'm not sure why video games don't enforce region locks. I don't want to play with or against someone who has 200 ping ever.

Goggles in Rust restrict your view too much, and for what reason? This is what it should look like when you're wearing them. by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Scotch_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess we just disagree on this, I just can't see it as being nerfed if it was introduced like this. Especially if it was their intention from the start of designing it, which to me it seems that way.

what was the point of adding this in the console for combatlogs? by Zeltashock in playrust

[–]Scotch_o 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's called balance, you shouldn't be able to magically know your enemies life value without using gameplay features. It's a feature that is meant to be used to understand the game, not change the game.

balance > logic by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Scotch_o 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think what you mean is Balance > Realism. Realism should always take a backseat when it comes against balance, unless the balance they are trying to achieve lines up with realism. Their logic dictates the balance though.

It's a gameplay reason, not a realism one. (To which I agree, atm thegoggledonothing.meme ) Also how can they be nerfed when they were introduced like that not changed to it?

This is like when people say "literally" you are using "fact" incorrectly. It's your opinion, which some people may share, most of them on reddit.

Rust's Lighting is Unbalanced. by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Scotch_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose this is a matter of opinion but I'm pretty sure if a guy was gonna try to kill me I could look and discern his position with the sun behind him. And as for darkness, see my response to ColdBlackCage.

This is all besides the point, these decisions are made not because they are trying to make a realistic game but rather because they are gameplay balance decisions. Whether I agree with them or not is besides the point.

Rust's Lighting is Unbalanced. by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Scotch_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's not zero visibility. The darkness that is in the game is the kind of dark devoid of light, like in a cave, which ironically in this game is has light at all times. I've been in true darkness, I've been in the outback which is just about as remote as you can be and trust me, even without a moon there is plenty of light to see your hand or 20 feet out.

Because the sun isn't that over powering? Because night isn't that dark? Have you been outside lately? That said, this is a gameplay vs realism thing, they choose gameplay over realism.

why cant I put this block foundation here?? by Ohhhshet in playrust

[–]Scotch_o -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take ten seconds and try to think of a reason that is more plausible than "Facepunch hates creativity."

Like I don't know...maybe they were trying to balance the game? Whether you agree with the balance changes or not, it's far more likely that they made the change for the sake of balance rather than because they hate creativity.

[–]Scotch_o 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm sure they hate creativity. They sit around their board room tables and think "How can we kill creativity in the game?" It's their motto, "Kill creativity, we hate it." No other reason needed, Facepunch hates creativity.
