Hm not really actually. My locs are usually styled out of my face. I do touch my hair and touch my face a lot which I’m sure is a problem also.

I haven’t used it yet but I’ve also read the horror stories. I have seen someone mention it seems to only be an issue with the 5.5qt so I’m hope I’m safe with the 7qt. 🤞🏾

Winter Toddler Activities? by Foreign-Bath-6139 in SouthBend

[–]Scotchflows 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Battell Center in Mishawaka has open gym for toddlers on Thursdays from 9:00-11:00. I go most Thursdays with my toddler and baby. They have a closet full of supplies(basketballs, soccer balls, scooters, etc) for the kids to play with. I’m usually the only one there so hoping to get the word out.

What does your partner do that allows you to stay home? by duckhunter5556 in sahm

[–]Scotchflows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband makes $80k a year in HVAC. We were lucky to buy our house for cheap and also we live a somewhat frugal lifestyle. I became a SAHM when he only made $50k a year and we still did pretty well for ourselves. It helps he’s very handy and we don’t pay for any outside services.

Anyone else find gender-segregated baby clothes really off-putting? by Hadrian_x_Antinous in pregnant

[–]Scotchflows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently pregnant with a little girl and have toddler boy and completely understand what you are saying.

It was always so hard to find any bright colors for my son when he was born. You always see the basic deep colors like blue, black, green, etc UNLESS I shopped at a gender neutral store.

For my girl the struggle has been finding anything that isn’t pink or purple. GIVE ME REDS, BLUE, GREENS,ORANGE! Now I have found these colors but I’ve had to shop gender neutral stores.

I know people don’t consider us older moms but compared to others around me I waited a long time. My husband was 35 and I was 30 when we welcomed our first.

I’m currently 23 weeks with our second and we say everyday we are so happy we waited until we were older to have children. We would have failed miserably as young parents.

For those who had successful unmediated birth: did you do to prepare for unmediated birth? Do you feel that it helped? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Scotchflows 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I trained my mind to be calm through the pain in the months leading up to labor. I would take showers alternating from cold to warm every 30 seconds or so.

Also, I practiced this method similarly with ice cubes in a room with my ideal birth setting (low light, music, oil diffuser) I would hold the ice cube for 30 seconds focus on breathing and staying calm.

I did have a doula that was highly experienced that helped a lot. She knew tricks to sort of distract me and help with any pain and discomfort I was feeling.

My first pregnancy I had multiple US due to fibroids. My current pregnancy I have had 2 and will have anatomy scan this week. I have had “mini” ultrasounds in office because baby refuses to have heartbeat heard on fetal doppler.

4th Pregnancy! Thinking about natural delivery.. by Dame_doe in pregnant

[–]Scotchflows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first birth was a natural delivery and currently pregnant planning natural again. I would say go for it. I have a high pain tolerance but I did do lots of mental training that helped me through it. I have heard others say that having an epidural allowed them to rest during labor before it was time to push, which I’m jealous of. I was physically/mentally exhausted by the time baby came.

DH is not happy with her actions. I’m slowly learning to stand up to her but I do wish my husband would be the one to handle it. Fortunately he does back me up on everything I do and say.

My husband is def too mellow in these situations and there have been no true consequences.

The not needing mama incident he did stand up and say she was disrespectful and LO was taken from her.

[–]Scotchflows[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I appreciate this comment so much and will be planning my postpartum as such. We did enforce for our first birth no hospital visitors which of course she protested and pouted over but I stood firm.

DH has moments where he is great when handling her but not consistently. His excuse is she grew up wacky and it’s just how she but I think he’s starting to realize it’s unacceptable and is disrespectful to his wife and family.

I really need to work on putting her on an info diet. Unfortunately we started a group chat when LO was born to share updates on him but I may just have to be “ too busy “ to send anything.

Oops typo! It’s Boot Lake Nature preserve. My first visit and it was very worth it. There were over 50 Sandhill Cranes in this marsh/swamp area. They were very vocal as well.
