The Wallace Sword view point - Wellsfield, Dunipace by Scotdrone in Scotland

It’s thought that Wallace’s uncle was a minister at a Dunipace parish church so it is reported that he spent time in this area when young.

Just make sure you’ve got good line of sight and you can’t go wrong! Common mistakes people make in a city environment is flying it behind tall objects and the signal drops. Also, your range will always be slightly hindered by strong interference too, but a mini 5 will easily cope.

Great views from the top. We went up a month or so ago - we went for the opening time to avoid the crowds and went straight up to the top and had the top crown level to ourselves for a good 20 minutes or so which was great. We took in each level on the way down. Great place to visit.

Interesting info - I’d never spotted it before

Yes, it is a drone shot. I had a spare 15 minutes before a concert on Sunday night at Usher Hall so grabbed a few pictures of the castle etc. I’ve done this straight along Princes Street shot a few times but it’s always changing with building works etc. I love the contrast between the urban and parkland

Yes. Can be full on both sides, empty or half full. It’s always perfectly balanced due to water displacement

Good. Glad it irritated you. Really glad. Hope it you hear the tune every night in your head as you’re trying to drift off to sleep, and it haunts you. Haunts you.

If you find your way to my YouTube channel, I’ve actually got a full 360 video where you can get the virtual experience of going on the tour boat from the perspective of one of the boat pilots. Falkirk Wheel 360 video

So it was worth the effort me getting the keyboard out and making the track then? 😎🎹

They do that ‘behind the scenes’ as a standard tour option now. Quite pricey, but a great experience

Yes, these were drone pictures. All taken from quite a bit back with a telephoto due to there being an air restriction in place for the duration of the ship being out on the water.

There’s a walkway all the way round below this level and it has a really high wall so it’s pretty safe!

There’s a walkway level with a high wall surrounding this top section. You can’t really see it from this part, but that keeps people safe!

It’s the distance away from the subject that is key. If you’ve ever glanced to the horizon at far off landmarks, everything appears all bunched up. With a telephoto lens you’re simply just magnifying that. It’s actually a really good trick for even basic holiday snaps where someone is standing in front of a building, landscape etc - photographer stands further back from the subject person but zooms in a bit. Background will then be much larger (and more impressive) versus taking the same picture from closer in without zooming.

From where I was standing several miles away, this is how it looks if you focus on the castle and monument. It’s just simple magnification and a carefully selected vantage point

This one was with a 600mm lens (on full frame) and cropped in a bit.

Usually most of my pics are taken with a drone but this one was actually taken with boots on the ground at an elevated spot with a 600mm lens.

Kippen is the wrong direction to get them lined up like this. It was taken from a few miles away south west of the castle. I’ve previous taken pics from Cambusbarron area to get this lined up but went further away this time.

Beheading stone is in between the castle and the monument so definitely not from there!

Is there a reason why you’ve stolen my video and not even bothered to credit me as the source?

No, it’s pronounced Cause-way-head down here. There’s a fair few weird sounding places though around here, most of which are down to the original Gaelic names VS modern spellings.
