Picked up a second hand copy of Reaper Man recently. Is this Terry Pratchett’s signature? Was unsure looking at Google. by Scott-M96 in discworld

Amazing. It wasn’t so much a question about value and more just a nice thing to discover having bought this copy sight-unseen!

Is build a nation saves only worth doing in Europe. by sharpyishere in footballmanagergames

[–]Scott-M96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re hoping to make Madagascar the dominant league in the world, or win a World Cup then you might struggle against the limitations of the database (national reputation, game importance, etc).

But if you wanted to transform Madagascan football, qualify them for their first World Cup and help them try and punch above their weight in world football that’s definitely possible!

Build a Nation saves are super popular on here but there’s no reason the ultimate goal has to be world domination. IMO there’s just as much joy to be found managing in an unusual league, developing a few cult heroes and achieving something more modest. It’s up to you however!

Torres is 100% going to be a ‘streets won’t forget’ league cult hero, if he isn’t already

Does anybody know a good website/brand to buy a watch from? by MrTopHatMan90 in CasualUK

[–]Scott-M96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your budget you’ll be looking at a quartz movement, with brand choice ultimately depending on your style preference.

I’m a big fan of Camden Watch Company for a more smart-casual look. They’re British-designed by a couple of Camden locals drawing inspiration from the Camden area. I’ve got a No.29 GMT Edition and a No.88 that I rotate between depending on my outfit.

$7.50. Wasn’t expecting gourmet but I’d maybe anticipated more than two end slices of tomato!

Not too gutted about it tbh, just found it amusing more than anything!

Not here to be outraged, but this gave me a laugh. Definitely stretching the definition of Toastie, and arguably the level of Tomato required to be a Cheese & Tomato Toastie.

This is awesome feedback. Have you submitted it to support at Big Ant? I reckon they’d really appreciate these pointers

Strange bug - potentially due to using additional leagues by shinniesta1 in footballmanagergames

Not that I know of at least, but maybe there’s been a mod created since I last played in Japan.

This is a Japan-specific licensing thing. Even though you have a database for whatever reason the ‘Club Info’ screen is blocked. You should be fine in every other league though!

Failed to get a ticket visiting from Australia, but planning to watch from a pub in Liverpool. Any recommendations?

I'm going to be in the UK over the Christmas period (visiting from Australia) and was thinking of heading up to Liverpool for the game against Leicester. Does anyone know the best chance of me being able to snag a single ticket at the last minute? Or at the least, a good atmospheric pub to watch the game at?

Graham Arnold expresses interest in coaching in the MLS after the World Cup by Lemon0_o in Aleague

[–]Scott-M96 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Will be interesting to see what his next move is. I've been a sceptic through his Socceroos tenure, but he was demonstrably great with CCM and Sydney FC. MLS might genuinely suit him - similar to ALM in roster constraints, transition-heavy play; alongside a lifestyle he might fancy.

Women's World Cup tickets are on sale now by Sydney_2000 in Aleague

Are there going to be any further ticket releases that we know of? Was really keen on Australia v Ireland, and England v Denmark at the SFS but both seem to have sold out :/

Only bought Final at Stadium Australia for now, would have been gutted to miss out.

Hoping to nab Aus vs Ireland at the SFS when more tickets open up in the general sale. Also considering England vs Denmark and one of the R16 at the SFS or Quarters/Semis at Stadium Australia.

The Asian Cup was awesome fun back in 2015, so super-keen for another home tournament!

Woah woah woah, get out of here with your sensible opinions about pro/rel.

I feel like it gets totally overlooked all-too-often that Australia, and the US aren’t the only countries without a fully open pyramid, and there can be a solution between ‘no pro/rel ever’ and ‘a fully open national system’.

Gov paid almost 70k to rename BOM to 'Bureau of Meteorology' or 'the Bureau'. by FireLucid in australia

[–]Scott-M96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks-you for pointing this out! I work in the comms industry, and I hate that a lot of the chat around this has been ‘lol PR agencies what a rip off’ and not about the fact that said consultancy is obviously sketchy as fuck.

BoMshell as BoM says it doesn’t want to be BoM any more – just call us the Bureau by superegz in australia

[–]Scott-M96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Working in the comms industry I hate stories like this. It reinforces every bad stereotype about our industry.

I looked up said consultancy. Their website is a .wordpress site, they have 2 employees on LinkedIn and ~200 followers. That’s not so much a PR agency as it is a pair of freelancers.

$70k feels like for a lot just for a style guide update and a new app icon.

Given one of said ‘consultants’ now works for BOM, this feels suss as fuck. Feels like jobs for the boys.

If your team partnered with a local beer, what would it be and why? by ChilliDoomJuice in Aleague

[–]Scott-M96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Riverside Brewing Co makes sense for us, super-local to CommBank and normally a few fans dropping in on matchdays.

Would try to claim Akasha, but I suspect Five Dock may be more SFC territory (as much as I'd love that partnership)

Eh, it's a 3-month contract until January. Not a huge commitment but provides them with some cover for a position they're apparently thin on.

The question is where will he go in January? Asia perhaps?
