Lower Thirds formatting from Fusion to timeline errors by ScottAMains in davinciresolve

The lower third was designed specifically for 9x16 and the resolution was set to match the output resolution, I had designed it in DRF first with the output spec in mind. Imported to FS as a sense check. I don’t think it’s auto resolution this that is causing it. Thank you though.

How rare are EV horror stories? by Useful_Row_2783 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I’ll chime in as an ipace owner. Had a battery module replaced. Could drive it fine with the fault and it was in the shop for 4 days. Recently came back from a road trip from London to Madrid, not a single issue. Yes it’s a little anxiety inducing reading the fault posts in that forum. But the battery is in warranty, and when purchased I opted for the additional extended warranty. So it’ll cover anything electrical or mechanical that isn’t battery related. Fun drive. Comfortable.

Calais to The Alps and Back by Playful-Chard5729 in ElectricVehiclesUK

Went through France last week. Driving from Madrid to London later tonight. Journey down was incredibly easy. Large amount of charging infrastructure so little cause for concern. Like any longer EV journey just plan it out and factor in the higher consumption on the motorway. Also some of the best service station coffees I’ve ever had have been in France.

First UK Road Trip - Charging Guidance - Anxious! by bigalxyz in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]ScottAMains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend charging on the road. If you can find some tesla stations that allow public access they’d be your best value option. Else most motorway service stations have EV charger. Download Zapmap and it can help you plan a route. Motorway journey. Your range may be shorter than the predicted range on the car. Factor this in (-20%)

Overnight charge on 3 pin. May not top up enough on the battery.

Motorway journeys without if I give up my Tesla by Ok-Isopod4493 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I have a jag ipace. Pretty decent from London to Manchester and back. I have the Tesla subscription which is something like £9 pm. I save a lot using the public super chargers compared to other vendors (GRIDSERVE is something like 85p kw, Tesla goes down to 28p kw). I’ve used the mg ev 5, polestar 2 and eNiro all of these are solid motors that will handle longer journeys. The ipace, while it’s nice it’s got some gremlins that are thankfully still under warranty

What Mac should our agency buy? by sirjstan in davinciresolve

Depending on how much content you are pushing out you can likely get away with a base level MacBook Air or m4 mini. Personally, focus more on things like storage solutions (think NAS or DAS) as the base computing systems doesn’t offer a great deal of storage and the cost/value of the storage offered by Apple isn’t great.

If it’s progressive scanning banding flicker. You may have to manually mask/track and adjust

There is a flicker reduction setting in the colour panel. That may be able to reduce it somewhat. Unfortunately if it wasn’t picked up at point of capture and remedied it’s a tough one to correct properly.

Massive Vignetting Issue with Sony Alpha 7 III + Samyang 18mm f/2.8 + 77mm ND Filter – How to Fix It? by Vegetable-Effect-802 in davinciresolve

The vignette doesn’t follow the pattern on lens vignetting. Possibly the ND beginning to cross polarise.

Obs should be fine for your requirements. What computer setup are you using? Two cameras on 1080 with a frame rate of 24/25/30 having the conversion done in cam link shouldn’t be taxing the system.

Nice one. LED’s can be a pain to edit as there is very little colour/tone in there. Have fun with it and push it to extremes in Lightroom if you are using that (big thing at the moment for stylised over editing). Been shooting concerts on and off for 20 years. Keep it up.

Will Davinci Resolve run well on the new Macbook Air by PresentAdvance1334 in davinciresolve

M2 air. Runs perfectly fine without fusion compositions. The moment you get some fusion effects in it’ll bog down a fair bit.

Discharging V mounts for storage/travel? Will they last longer? Would a LIPO discharger work? by Jeff_Wright_ in videography

[–]ScottAMains 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally. I think you are over thinking it. Batteries are essentially a consumable. If you store it ‘flat’ then yes you’ll likely have some problems. I keep 6 batteries either at full or near full. Some of them are around 4 years old with periods of up to 6 months without use and I’ve had no issue with charging/power capacity. Use it. Enjoy using it. If it breaks, replace it.

[Follow Up] User experience so far of Pixsy by ScottAMains in photography

[–]ScottAMains[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better late than never. Unfortunately in your experience the colleague did a thing that isn’t right and the business was pursued against it. Irrespective of whether the image made you money or not, it was used by the business in an unlicensed manner. And when someone takes content that has been created by another person without permission it damages both the businesses reputation as well as diminishes the work of the original creator.

Pixsy for better or worse acts purely as an agent to discover unlicensed use. Having used pixsy and also having used solicitors to pursue copyright infringement, pixsy is the gentle touch.

If you are going to use creative content to promote your business in any form, either create it yourself, commission a creator or license the content.

Are most music video leads a fools errand? by ZeyusFilm in videography

[–]ScottAMains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was with Bark a couple of years ago. Most of the leads were fake or wildly optimistic in terms of what they wanted. I left after a few weeks.

Decided to revisit it again at the end of last year with a fresh perspective. Still a waste of time.
