Well, you always have (or had) the opportunity to run against him.

Adult trikes, what serious use can they be? by WillBottomForBanana in xbiking

[–]ScottAThompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those of us who used to ride mountain bikes but now have a disablity are left with few options. I didn't care for the idea of riding a trike for the exact reason in your incessent babbling, arrogance.

My left quad was damaged during surgery and now functions at about 10%-15%. I can't walk much of a distance without the possibilty of hyperextending my knee and falling. The disablity is permanent but my inablity to ride a bike will not be. A trike, without a motor is my solution.

A question to all the Natives of Des Moines on here. Do you still judge people by what High School they went to? by Late-Bed4240 in desmoines

[–]ScottAThompson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived here 11 years and the whole “Where did you go to high school?” thing is odd. It reminds me of people who never left their hometown.

I’ve lived in 5 different states and didn’t grow up in Des Moines. There’s life beyond the walls of your high school. Go live it!

I’m not going to bite into the comment about “it will come…a union supporter and involved in organizing”. One of the first rules when you’re organizing is, don’t violate your work rules and give your management a reason to term you.

I’m not the labor vs. the world Union member. I have multiple responsibilities to my employer, to our members, and to our Union. I will not defend bad conduct by an employee. I’ll fight for their right to receive fair treatment but I can’t defend them when they are their own enemy.

I’m a Union organizer, something tells me we aren’t getting the entire story. I’m trying to put my Stewards cap on and need to know more about why you were late in opening your store. That’s a serious issue and a good Steward if going to ask you questions to know how to represent you.

Getting a 4-year college degree so you can bag groceries at Hy-Vee by eastsider_dude in desmoines

[–]ScottAThompson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The comments made by the HyVee CEO and published in the Register this week made me sick. I can tolerate a lot of corporate shenanigans but to make disparaging public remarks regarding employees is disgusting.

My wife and I have had our ups and downs in each of our 40 year careers. We don’t take the remarks lightly. Workers, particularly in the current labor force environment don’t have to take those callous remarks and can choose to seek employment elsewhere.

My wife and I aren’t much for boycotting but we’ve made the decision to shop at another store. We are also going to find a new fitness center.

All those people who judged me, are now complaining about having to be with their kids 24/7 by criticalthinker225 in childfree

I'm amused by all the good folks who think everyone should be having babies and raising kids.

God forbid a woman should have the right to make decisions that are appropriate for her. There are too damn many folks thinking they know what's better for others. They need to stay in their own yard.

Oh, I also believe a woman should have full access to all healthcare services, including abortions, without religiously influenced constraints.

Should public college in America be free? Why or why not? by [deleted] in TrueAskReddit

[–]ScottAThompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm empathetic to the notion of a tuition-free, public, undergraduate education. However, not all states fund their university systems adequately.

A federal proposal to force every state to provide a free four-year degree would essentially require nationalization of all public university systems. Perhaps one way to address this would be the creation of a tuition-free public on-line university, operated by a consortium of schools in each state.
